We are looking for a motivated Facilitator to join our Social and Civic Engagement team


POSITION FUNCTION:

Under the direction of the Coordinator, the Facilitator is responsible for engaging with participants, facilitating social and civic engagement activities, and supporting group community connection activities.


KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Be familiar with MOSAIC'S vision, mission, values, strategic plan, and integrated client service delivery approach, program and/or project proposals and contracts, and your role in achieving the goals and contractual outcomes of the department.

2.Maintain knowledge of the unique needs of program participants and related activities/services.

3.Assist in the recruitment and selection of program clients based on standardized assessment and evaluation procedures.

3.1. Refer ineligible clients to appropriate resources.

4.Support the Coordinator to ensure completion of deliverables as part of the Funding Contract Agreement.

4.1. Organize activities such as training sessions, networking events, panel discussions, conferences, and other activities.

4.2. Organize and book guest speakers for events as required.

4.3. Coordinate and liaise with volunteers for delivery of activities.

4.4. Provide guidance and support to participants as they navigate the process of unlearning and learning about equity, diversity, and inclusion.

4.5. Foster a supportive and empowering environment that encourages participants to take ownership of their learning and growth.

4.6. Create a safe and inclusive space for participants to share their experiences, ask questions, and explore challenging topics related to race, identity, and privilege.

4.7. Provide resources and guidance to participants seeking board positions, including information on available opportunities, application processes, and networking strategies.

4.8. Provide ongoing feedback and support to participants as they progress through the training program and prepare for board positions.

5.Ensure continuous communication with clients, as well as address and resolve client complaints.

6.Assist in developing and delivering training materials and provide instruction in all program elements and ensure curricula materials are updated.

7.Conduct research and stay updated on trends about civic engagement; board governance; equity, diversity and inclusion to update course / training materials.

8.Handle administrative responsibilities, database management, marketing, promotion, and outreach.

9.Participate in departmental, all-staff, and relevant community meetings, in-service trainings, and other trainings.

10.Other duties, as assigned by the program coordinator or manager.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • University degree in social work, sociology, inclusion studies, business administration, or a combination of coursework and experience.
  • Certification in equity, diversity and inclusion will be considered an asset.
  • Working with racialized immigrants and a broad range of cultural backgrounds.
  • A solid understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles, including systemic oppression, privilege, and bias.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills including awareness of diverse cultural norms, values, and communication styles.
  • Empathetic, able to listen actively, and provide a supportive environment for participants to share their thoughts and feelings as they navigate the process of unlearning and learning about equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Organized and able to set priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Facilitation experience, one-on-one or in large groups.
  • Public speaking experience.
  • Skillful in creating detailed agendas for meetings and training sessions, outlining objectives, timelines, and interactive elements to engage participants effectively.
  • Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to handle unexpected situations.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment and adapt to a changing environment.
  • Proven capability in coordinating logistics for large-scale conferences, including venue arrangements, catering, equipment setup, and ensuring a smooth flow of events.
  • Proficient in utilizing virtual collaboration tools such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or other video conferencing platforms to organize and facilitate virtual meetings and training sessions.
  • Proficiency in MS Office 365, MS Teams, Slack, publishing software, databases, and operating standard office equipment.
  • Current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required.


HOURS:

Full-time position (35 hours per week) until March 31st, 2025.

The successful candidate may be permitted to work a hybrid work model (combination of in-office and remote work).


The candidate must be able to work flexible working hours including some evenings and weekends.

Able to commute to Boundary office in Vancouver.


BENEFITS:

A competitive benefits package is provided with contracts of at least 1 year in length and which offer a minimum of 17.5 hours of work per week.
