Position Overview

As a newly graduate Geomatics Technician, you will play a real role in the Surveying Department.  You will also play a role in the Estimating Department.

District Overview

Kiewit is one of the largest construction companies in North America. We have built roads that connect the world, bored tunnels through mountains, dug canals to carry water.  Eastern Canada District's projects include highways, bridges, mass transit, mine site development & open pit operations, hydroelectric powerhouses, wind-power plants, dams & industrial. They serve the construction and mining industries and operates in Eastern. 

Location

This role is based in Laval, Quebec.

Responsibilities

- Survey data processing: Processing, analysis and saving of data using AutoDesk's Civil 3D program and TBC (Trimble Business Center).
- Quantity calculations : 
- Excavation and backfill
- Road calculation and volume
- Volume of concrete structures
- Drawing: Produce plan views, profile views and sectional views for excavations/backfills and roads.
- Occasional field support as a surveyor.

Qualifications

 - Preferred degree: Bachelor of Geomatics Engineering or related.

- Basic knowledge of Civil 3D, Trimble, Control Point Network Adjustment and Inroad is an asset.

- Must be able to apply basic algebra and geometry concepts to perform calculations (surface, volume).

- Dynamic individual with the desire to lead, motivate and coach teams.

- Autonomous and able to set standards of excellence in quality and production.

- Strong work ethic with the ability to work individually and as part of a team.

- Good written and verbal communication skills (French and English).

- Committed to working safely and getting the job done right the first time.

- Willing to combine office work with field operations.

 

Functional knowledge of English (written and verbal) is considered as an asset since mobility across provinces in Canada is required. Lessons can be provided as needed.
