About the role

As a member of Corporate Actuarial, this role will be part of a national actuarial team responsible for the valuation of policy liabilities, forecasting and generating IBNR provisions for the Financial Statements as well as providing support to key stakeholders on a variety of topics (most notably underwriting results). This role will be a key contributor in the monthly preparation of reserving data and will be responsible of proposing continuous improvements to our processes.

 What youâll do here:

  • Program and run data extractions for reserves analysis
  • Manipulate, reconcile and upload data into our reserving tool
  • Work closely with other teams to ensure data quality
  • Propose continuous improvements to tools and reports and implement approved modifications
  • Participate in end-to-end testing on different IFC strategic initiatives and act as liaison between actuarial and external departments. Assist the Corporate Actuarial business teams by gathering, interpreting, and communicating impacts of those initiatives.
  • Support and work with regional actuarial teams and other business partners in meeting special requests for data and analysis
  • Prepare and maintain documentation of processes and procedures
  • Contribute actively to the teamâs work considering the priorities. Provide coaching to staff and/or act as reference. Share systems knowledge and provide training when required
  • Take part in ad-hoc projects as assigned

What you bring to the table:

  • University Degree or College Diploma in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Computer Science or another relevant subject.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience; knowledge of insurance industry is an asset
  • Ability and desire to learn/adapt quickly to a changing environment
  • Ability to problem-solve and look for efficient, automated solutions
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills in effectively working within a multisite team and collaborating with several business partners
  • Can manage multiple initiatives at the same time; works well under pressure
  • Excellent knowledge of Office Suite, VBA and SAS
  • Knowledge of Power BI and Python is an asset
  • Working proficiency in English is required; bilingualism (French and English) is necessary. Need to interact on a regular basis with an English-speaking clientele and colleagues across the country.
