What you’ll be doing

Reporting to the Senior Director, Controls Management & Oversight The Director, of Platform Oversight is responsible for Control Management, Policy Compliance, Disclosure, and Systems Controls. They lead a team to optimize business system controls over CIBC’s secured and unsecured lending products. The Director actively designs and executes ongoing control management of Platform applications like Decision Manager. They work closely with enterprise partners in Personal Lending Products, Business Controls, Operations, Distribution, Other Product Teams within PBB, Technology and Operations, and Compliance & Risk Management. The Director is a key enabler of the Personal Lending strategy by proactively delivering strong controls and compliance within a scalable model focused on acquisition and post-funding disclosure.

How you’ll Succeed

Stakeholder partnership - Partner with other Key Stakeholders that support PL&I to contribute to strategies for CIBC’s Personal Lending products and platforms that will ensure our platforms are compliant with all standards and guidelines, RMUP and are designed and operating as intended. This will include:

  • Ensure that our operational processes are compliant with all key regulations.

  • Working with 1B functions to define control testing across Personal Lending (unsecured and secured lending) products to ensure platform are adhering to requirements and operating as intended. .

  • Defining and managing actions plans to ensure we are always compliant.

  • Optimizing controls within core processes that support PL&I.

  • Control and change management for FLM/PLC/SPLC/Mortgages/HPP/Loans processes and platform changes

  • Execute oversight for key Product Management Processes.

  • Ensure timely remediation of all audit, RCIs and self-identified issues.

Policy Design and Execution - Proactive approach policy design and execution that will help RESL achieve premium market growth.

  • Lead/Support the review, design, development and implementation of CIBC RESL policies and business rules.

  • Develop recommendations and provide POV on proposed policy impacts on the business, existing processes and controls.

  • Provide detailed analysis to support and guide senior management in the implementation of strategic business plans

  • Provide leadership for design of policies, ensuring alignment to business and client centric objectives, optimizing policies and acceptance across product/channel

  • Maintain in depth knowledge of products, policies, standards, processes and systems as well as emerging federal and provincial legislative requirements

  • Ongoing proactive review/maintenance of policies, controls and monitoring of performance; including identification of opportunities to enhance policies to support the PL&I business.

  • Participate/lead cross functional projects that require control management expertise.

  • Establish an environment where innovative solutions are identified and deployed within acceptable parameters

  • Keep current on environmental, regulatory, political, competitive landscape and benchmarking

  • Lead as appropriate, project work and strategic initiatives pertaining to business control management and operational effectiveness of supporting policy framework

  • Act as an internal consultant regarding regulations and key control management for key business strategies and tactics.

  • Lead strong planning, analytical, system and application testing and the ability to review and understand results and outputs of system testing and communication skills to deliver high quality deliverables within tight timelines.

People Management and Leadership - Define methods of delivery that will ensure the best results given complexity and timelines.

  • Ensure exceptional staff are recruited, developed, trained, motivated, fairly compensated and retained.

  • Ensure that roles and accountabilities are defined and understood and that these accountabilities are shared with key partners.

  • Establish, monitor and refine goals and objectives for team members and internal/external partners.

  • Provide opportunity for learning and development experience with the ability to think broadly across CIBC and what benefits it can potentially bring to accelerate progress, enhance client experience and employee engagement, and drive efficiency

Comprehensive knowledge of financial services regulatory practices and principles sufficient to interpret and analyze complex concepts and apply these in innovative ways. Good understanding of all elements of Personal Lending and RESL to create effective controls that balance risk and growth
