Billing & Collection Specialist

Our client is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Billing & Collection Specialist to join their team. The Billing & Collection Specialist will perform duties following established accounting policies and practices. This role primarily involves managing accounts for private individuals, with support from the supervisor for unusual cases.

Responsibilities:

  • Contact customers via phone and correspondence to collect outstanding accounts.
  • Ensure timely reconciliation and maintenance of customer accounts.
  • Issue billings and prepare manual invoices and credits as needed.
  • Sort and mail invoices to customers.
  • Process credit card payments and apply daily payments timely.
  • Liaise with customers, service staff, and IT to resolve invoice discrepancies.
  • Process customer credit and re-bill adjustments promptly.
  • Contact customers and send reminders for overdue payments.
  • Monitor and follow up on disputed invoices to expedite collection.
  • Maintain comprehensive customer files, including contract history and interaction records.
  • Comply with corporate, regulatory, and quality management program requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bilingual in English and French (written and verbal).
  • Basic knowledge of general accounting principles with at least three years of collections experience in a corporate accounting environment.
  • Intermediate computer skills, with proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
  • Experience with integrated business systems, preferably SAP.
  • Experience in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, or health insurance is preferred.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing responsibilities.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Strong prioritization and scheduling skills under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Customer-focused with strong organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to handle stress effectively.
