Currently we are adding an experienced Employee Relations & Recruitment Specialist to our People & Culture team. As the People & Culture Specialist, you will be responsible for administering all employee relations activities for store support center departments including retail operations, merchandising, marketing, technology, finance, and distribution. You will also support the recruitment process for the enterprise, ensuring a pleasant experience for our candidates, and a positive work environment for our employees. This role requires a strong understanding of employee relations best practices, excellent communication skills, and the ability to attract top talent to our organization in a retail and technology environment.

This is a Hybrid role, with an average of 3 days per week working from our Store Support office. Located in the heart of downtown Toronto, our hybrid work model offers the ideal blend of in-person mentorship with our senior leadership and the flexibility to work from your preferred location, ensuring a balance of learning and adaptability.

In this role you will:

Employee Relations:

  • Serve as a point of contact for employee relations matters, including addressing employee concerns, conflict resolution, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Provide guidance and support to employees and managers on employee relations issues, including performance management, disciplinary actions, and grievance procedures.
  • Conduct investigations into employee complaints, ensuring a fair and unbiased process, and recommend appropriate actions or resolutions.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee relations records and documentation.
  • Collaborate with P&C leaders across the enterprise and other stakeholders to develop and implement employee engagement initiatives and programs.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of P&C policies and procedures to promote a positive and inclusive work environment.

Recruitment:

  • Collaborate with hiring managers to understand their staffing needs and develop effective recruitment strategies.
  • Utilize various sourcing methods (e.g., job boards, social media, networking) to attract and identify qualified candidates.
  • Screen resumes and conduct initial phone interviews to assess candidate qualifications and fit with the organization.
  • Coordinate and schedule interviews with hiring managers and facilitate the selection process.
  • Conduct reference checks and background screenings as required.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date candidate records in the applicant tracking system.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to candidates throughout the recruitment process.
  • Assist with employer branding initiatives to attract top talent.

Administrative Tasks:

  • Manage all HR & P&C documentation, including employee files, contracts, polices, and other employment-related paperwork.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations by maintaining accurate records and documentation.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of P&C policies and procedures.
  • Support P&C team with various administrative tasks as needed.
