**General Accountability**:

- Provides day-to-day guidance to all levels of TTC management, staff and unionized employees on a wide variety of employment and Human Resources issues. The role oversees and resolves grievances, mediations and arbitrations; collects data to support negotiations with bargaining units; and interprets existing agreements, policies, procedures, and rules and regulations. The role also provides support on attendance related matters; and researches and prepares a variety of labour relations studies and projects as required.**Key Job Functions**:

- Manage grievances, mediations and arbitrations, and provide advice to management regarding union and employee issues.
- Provide support and guidance to all levels of TTC management with regard to a wide variety of labour and employment related issues.
- Interpret collective agreements, corporate policies and procedures and arbitral jurisprudence.
- Establish a close working relationship with managers, union representatives and Human Resources Department staff to identify, develop and implement dispute resolution strategies, and develop and deliver targeted training programs.
- Identify and report on developments in labour law and their impact on the TTC.
- Provide attendance management related advice.
- Ensure work practices are following all policy and legislation requirements.
- Demonstrate behaviours that support diversity, inclusion, and a respectful work and service environment that is free from discrimination and harassment. Help to remove barriers and accommodate employees and customers (within their area of responsibility) in accordance with TTC’s commitments and obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC) and Related Orders, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and TTC’s policies.
- Participate in the TTC customer service Ambassador Program.

- Completion of a post-secondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline (Industrial Relations) or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of related work experience in a unionized environment.
- An LL.B designation or Masters of Industrial Relations, and experience in labour and employment law are assets.

**Additional Requirements**:

- Thorough understanding of employee and labour relations practices and principles and the collective bargaining process as well as demonstrated familiarity with, and ability to interpret, collective agreements.
- Strong negotiation, mediation and conciliation skills; well-developed problem-solving, investigative, organizational, time management, interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.
