Nurse Practitioner (Registered Nurse in the Extended Class) with certificate of registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario with license to prescribe controlled substances
~ Master’s degree in Nursing or equivalent preferred
~ Completion of the Prescription and Management of Controlled Drugs and Substances Course
~ Experience in development and implementation of Medical Directives and Policies and Procedures
~ 3-5 years of recent experience as a nurse practitioner working with adults and paediatrics is required; Experience as a nurse practitioner in the Emergency department preferred
~ Demonstrated clinical knowledge in performance and interpretation of ECG’s, IV therapy and venipuncture, suturing above the fascia, performance of minor procedures (aspiration, excision of lesions or biopsy) above the dermis, defibrillation, cardioversion and external pacing, splinting, casting and wound care.
~ Physical assessment skills with demonstrated ability to assess clients from paediatrics to geriatrics
~ Advanced Trauma Nursing Courses and/or recent related experience
~ Demonstrated commitment to best practice, nursing standards and life-long learning
~ Strong organizational and time management skills
~ Demonstrated leadership in committee work, education, quality improvement, policy & procedure development, and knowledge translation initiatives
