ABOUT THE ROLE

Operating within the Community Services Department, the Manager, Community Supports is a full-time permanent position that will supervise and lead the following teams:

  • the Targeted Prevention program that works in partnership with schools supporting parents, professionals, and children and youth from K-12 with workshops related to mental health and prevention.
  • the Youth in Transition (YIT) program which operates in partnership with CAS to provide support to youth aged 16 – 24 years as they transition out of the care of the child welfare system, and
  • an interdisciplinary team of professionals who provide outreach, case management, counselling, peer support, and trauma-informed, culturally sensitive care to youth aged 12-29 years may have experienced or are at risk for sexual exploitation.

The Manager, Community Supports will develop and maintain awareness and prevention training for sexual exploitation and human trafficking delivered in community outreach to ensure it is reflective of current needs and best practices. The manager will develop, strengthen, and maintain strong collaborative partnerships across both children’s mental health, child welfare, and anti-human trafficking sectors.

Salary range: $79,422 to $92,488 per annum

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Provide oversight of the program’s service delivery and day-to-day operations including staff recruitment, training, coaching, monitoring, and supervision.
  • Manage the service planning, coordination, and support of a team of interdisciplinary professionals; ensure high quality trauma-focused mental health service delivery that provides clients the highest level of care
  • Manage requests for service, provide program information, support program activities for clients and stakeholders; support staff in capacity building across community-based or other service type organizations.
  • Maintain safety and manage risk for the client and the organization, through direct support during work hours and on-call support, after-hours.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external partners/ stakeholders to enhance services, improve accessibility and promote awareness and support across the sector predominantly around Human Trafficking issues and related mental health.
  • Develop and coordinate human trafficking awareness programs, through promotion, community education, and community consultation.
  • Demonstrate commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.

THE “MUST HAVES”

The following education, professional memberships and knowledge are a requirement for this role:

  • MSW or a related master’s degree with membership in a college to practice and supervise psychotherapy.
  • Registered as a regulated health professional (eg. CRPO, OCSWSSW, RN, etc.) as per the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA)
  • 3-5 years direct related experience as a psychotherapist/counsellor.
  • A minimum one year of previous supervisory/leadership experience
  • Knowledge of interdisciplinary teams/supervision.
  • Experience in Trauma-Informed approaches to treatment.
  • Experienced in Evidence-informed interventions – Motivational Interviewing; Stages of Change; Strengths-based models.
  • Anti-oppression, anti-racist training and application.
  • Awareness of the role of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace and within the community being served by the position.
  • An understanding of anti-black racism, anti-oppressive/anti-racism perspective in the context of the social determinants of health.
  • Ability to recognize and identify situations where incidents of imbalance of power and privilege may occur and can result in possible negative impacts.

THE ‘NICE TO HAVES’

While not required, preference will be given to candidates with the following:

  • Harm-reduction training and experience
  • Lived experience or experience working with individuals who have experienced interpersonal violence and exploitation
  • An understanding of electronic client information systems/databases, reporting, and impact analysis
  • Functional computer and client information system knowledge.
  • Fluency in another language(s), including sign language.
