The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a two (2) year contract position as a Change Specialist. As a key member of March of Dimes (MODC’s) Strategy Office, the Change Specialist will be responsible for supporting change management in the context of MODC’s multi-year strategic transformation program, comprising multiple workstreams and individual projects. The role will report to the Senior Program Manager, Strategic Transformation, with a matrixed reporting relationship to the Director, People and Culture Transformation. In this exciting opportunity, the Change Specialist will support the development, execution and integration of change management plans within the overall strategic transformation program. This includes situational assessments, core change management planning, required secondary or sub-plans, and alignment of change management and program management considerations. The successful candidate will be a change professional with experience supporting change programs in mid-sized to large organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Support the collaborative development and implementation of a change management plan for MODC’s multi-year strategic transformation program and specific projects within it, leveraging a structured change and project management methodology, process and tools
  • Support and lead the integration of change management activities into the master program plan and specific project plans
  • Assess change readiness and impact at all levels of the organization
  • Identify, engage and guide key stakeholders to lead and support change adoption
  • Identify potential barriers to adoption and resistance and develop supporting mitigation plans
  • Directly coach people managers and supervisors to support effective change management
  • Support the design, development, delivery and management of key communications to support wide understanding, adoption and support of the strategic transformation program
  • Collaborate with People & Culture to provide input, document requirements, and support the design and delivery of training programs
  • Conduct monitoring and analysis of change activities, and report on performance and success of change efforts
  • Collaborate with project managers and staff to build capacity for change management and ensure best practices, tools and approaches are consistently applied to overall program management and within individual projects
  • Support and lead select program/project management activities, administrative and reporting requirements
  • Work independently and exercise judgment in escalating non-routine situations to management
  • Adhere to privacy and confidentiality best practices

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business, human resources or related subject
  • Project management certification an asset
  • Minimum three years of relevant experience in change management
  • Experience with large-scale/organization-wide projects and change efforts
  • Knowledge of change management principles, methodologies and tools
  • Knowledge of project management principles, tools and processes
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to articulate messages to a variety of audiences
  • Excellent active listening skills and superior interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional relationships with diverse stakeholders at all levels in the organization
  • Ability to work independently, problem-solve, make recommendations and take appropriate action
  • Flexible and adaptable; able to work in ambiguous situations
  • Exceptional organizational and planning skills, demonstrating judgment in prioritizing work
  • Effective team player able to work with, and through, others
  • Hybrid work arrangement (minimum 1 day in our office at 202- 885 Don Mills Road)
