TandemLaunch is a unique Montreal based start-up foundry and venture capital fund. We create cutting-edge technology companies based on research taken straight from major university labs. In the last decade, TandemLaunch has created over 30 ventures who have collectively raised over $250M in capital and are valued at over $675M.

The CFO will join our Core Team and will report into the partners of TandemLaunch. The right candidate, will also work very closely with the numerous CEO’s in the portfolio. We are looking for someone who is passionate about startups, has excellent communication skills, and is able to lead all aspects of finance.

Chief Financial Officer

Responsibilities

Financial

  • Drive the financial planning of TandemLaunch by analyzing the performance and risks
  • Set targets for and supervise all accounting and finance personnel (Accounting, AR, AP, Payroll).
  • Monitor financial health of portfolio companies and the TandemLaunch funds
  • Lead and organize the annual tax reporting and ensure all fillings are completed within deadlines
  • Oversee calls and distributions
  • Manage and coordinate annual financial audits
  • Coordinate team of accountants and back office personnel
  • Maintain and expand financial controls
  • Manage company banking, cash flows and credit

Legal

  • Ensure firm is in full compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and government filings
  • Coordinate legal processes for the corporate group and certain portfolio company transactions
  • Coordinate with outside counsel on ad-hoc legal matters

Reporting

  • Create and maintain fund, portfolio, and investor dashboards
  • Obtain and organize monthly, quarterly & annual financials, and legal documents for each portfolio company investment
  • Coordinate reporting from portfolio companies
  • Ensure effective financial internal controls and continually evaluate established policies and procedures.

Investor Relations

  • Provide ad-hoc information to limited partners on their individual holdings
  • Review and distribute tax and financial reporting to LPs
  • Ensure timely contributions of capital

About you:

  • Ability to manage risks by ensuring that effective and efficient internal controls are in place without compromising operational efficiency and flexibility.
  • Extensive knowledge in tax reporting, grants, financial reporting, audits, and private investment
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role, including at least 3+ years in team management
  • Excellent organizational skills, time management, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent French verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel.

Requirements

  • CPA
  • 5+ years experience in financial operations, ideally in VC, PE, or similar investment entities. Previous CFO experience in a startup is a plus.
  • Outstanding French written and verbal communication skills
  • Highest degree of integrity, professionalism and maintenance of confidentiality
  • Self-directed and detail-oriented

Le Chef des finances rejoindra notre équipe principale et rendra compte aux partenaires de TandemLaunch. Le candidat idéal travaillera également en étroite collaboration avec les nombreux PDG du portefeuille. Nous recherchons une personne passionnée par les startups, ayant d'excellentes compétences en communication et capable de diriger tous les aspects de la finance.

Responsabilités

Financières

  • Diriger la planification financière de TandemLaunch en analysant les performances et les risques.
  • Fixer des objectifs et superviser l'ensemble du personnel comptable et financier (Comptabilité, AR, AP, Paie).
  • Surveiller la santé financière des entreprises du portefeuille et du fonds TandemLaunch.
  • Diriger et organiser les rapports fiscaux dans les délais prescrits
  • Gérer les appels de capital et le distributions
  • Gérer et coordonner l'audit annuel
  • Coordonner l'équipe de comptables et back-office
  • Maintenir et développer les contrôles financiers
  • Gérer les comptes bancaires, la trésorerie et le crédit

Juridique

  • Veiller à ce que l'entreprise soit en parfaite conformité avec les exigences réglementaires applicables et les déclarations gouvernementales.
  • Coordonner les procédures juridiques pour le groupe corporatif et certaines transactions avec les compagnies de portefeuille
  • Assurer la coordination avec les conseillers juridiques externes.

Reporting

  • Créer et maintenir des tableaux de bord pour les fonds, le portefeuille et les investisseurs.
  • Obtenir et organiser les données financières mensuelles, trimestrielles et annuelles, ainsi que les documents juridiques pour chaque investissement en portefeuille.
  • Gérer le reporting demandés des sociétés de portefueille
  • Garantir l'efficacité des contrôles financiers internes et évaluer en permanence les politiques et procédures établies.

Relations avec les investisseurs

  • Fournir des informations ponctuelles aux commanditaires
  • Vérifier et distribuer les rapports fiscaux et financiers aux commanditaires
  • Garantir des contributions de capital en temps opportun

A propos de vous :

  • Capacité à gérer les risques en veillant à ce que des contrôles internes efficaces et efficients soient mis en place sans compromettre l'efficacité et la flexibilité opérationnelles.
  • Connaissances approfondies en matière d'impôts, de subventions, de rapports financiers, d’audits, et en investissement privé
  • 5+ ans d'expérience dans un poste similaire, dont au moins 3+ ans dans la gestion d'une équipe.
  • Excellentes compétences organisationnelles, gestion du temps et capacité à respecter les délais.
  • Excellentes aptitudes à la communication orale et écrite en français.
  • Connaissance avancée de MS Excel.

Exigences

  • CPA
  • 5 ans d'expérience ou plus dans les opérations financières au sein d'un fonds de capital-risque ou d’une entité d’investissement. Une expérience de chef des finances dans une startup est un plus.
  • Excellentes aptitudes à la communication écrite et orale en français
  • Très haut degré d'intégrité, de professionnalisme et de respect de la confidentialité
