About Dumont Nickel and NiVolt:

Dumont is a large-scale nickel and cobalt deposit located 25 km west of the town of Amos in the established Abitibi mining camp in the mining-friendly province of Québec. Dumont Nickel and NiVolt is poised to sustainably contribute to the energy transition and Quebec’s growing battery industry. The project has the potential to provide nickel for approximately 780,000 electric vehicles per year based on a high nickel cathode chemistry. The nickel from Dumont will have a low carbon footprint driven by Quebec’s renewable energy grid and the carbon capture capacity of the serpentine waste rock.. The Dumont and NiVolt projects maintains its social license to operate via continuous community engagement and an Impact and Benefit Agreement with Dumont’s First Nations partners, the Abitibiwinni First Nation.

The Dumont Nickel and NiVolt Projects innovate integrated battery supply chain solutions and are managed by Kinterra Capital, one of the largest undeveloped fully permitted and shovel ready nickel-sulphide deposits. Role-Specific Accountabilities

General Overview:

Based on the direction and oversight of the Chief Operating Officer, the VP, Finance of Dumont will be responsible for overseeing accounting and financial activities related to Dumont Nickel and NiVolt projects , including preparing financial reports, completing compliance audits, and monitoring internal processes. The ideal candidate will have an in-depth understanding of financial management, reporting requirements, and mining-industry regulations to ensure accurate financial reporting, cost optimization, and budgeting.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation of comprehensive and accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, adhering to relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements for the mining sector.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of mining-specific costs, including extraction, processing, and operational expenses. Identify cost-saving opportunities and work with operational teams to optimize financial performance.
  • Ensure compliance with mining industry regulations, reporting guidelines, tax laws, and environmental standards, providing necessary financial data to regulatory authorities as required.
  • Collaborate with department heads to develop annual budgets, financial forecasts, and long-term financial plans aligned with the company's mining projects and growth objectives.
  • Assess financial risks associated with mining operations and develop strategies to mitigate them effectively. Monitor financial risk exposure and provide recommendations for risk management improvements.
  • Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets, prevent fraud, and maintain the integrity of financial data.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors during audits and tax filings. Ensure all mining sector-specific tax compliance requirements are met.
  • Evaluate and improve financial reporting systems, recommending and implementing mining-specific Enterprise Resource Planning solutions for enhanced efficiency and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to provide financial insights, cost control guidance, and support in decision-making processes.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or a related field. CPA qualification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of experience.
  • Fluent in English and French
  • Proven experience as a VP, Finance, Controller or similar financial leadership role within the mining sector.
  • Familiarity with mining-specific accounting methodologies and financial analysis.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and trends.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing financial controls and risk management strategies.
  • Ability to adapt and thrive in a dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines, across different time zones.

Responsabilités spécifiques du poste

Présentation générale

Sous la direction et la supervision du directeur des opérations, Chief Operating Officer, le VP Finances Dumont sera chargé de superviser les activités comptables et financières liées aux projets Dumont Nickel et NiVolt, notamment la préparation des rapports financiers, la réalisation d'audits de conformité et le contrôle des processus internes. Le candidat idéal aura une connaissance approfondie de la gestion financière, des exigences en matière de rapports et des réglementations de l'industrie minière afin de garantir l'exactitude des rapports financiers, l'optimisation des coûts et l'établissement du budget.

Responsabilités:

  • Superviser la préparation d'états financiers complets et précis, notamment les bilans, les comptes de résultats et les tableaux de flux de trésorerie, en respectant les normes comptables et les exigences réglementaires applicables au secteur minier.
  • Effectuer une analyse approfondie des coûts spécifiques à l'exploitation minière, incluant l'extraction, le traitement et les dépenses opérationnelles. Identifier les possibilités de réduction des coûts et travailler avec les équipes opérationnelles pour optimiser les performances financières.
  • Assurer la conformité avec les réglementations de l'industrie minière, les directives en matière de rapports, les lois fiscales et les normes environnementales, en fournissant les données financières nécessaires aux autorités réglementaires, le cas échéant.
  • Collaborer avec les chefs de service pour élaborer des budgets annuels, des prévisions financières et des plans financiers à long terme alignés sur les projets miniers et les objectifs de croissance de l'entreprise.
  • Évaluer les risques financiers associés aux opérations minières et élaborer des stratégies pour les atténuer efficacement. Contrôler l'exposition aux risques financiers et formuler des recommandations pour améliorer la gestion des risques.
  • Établir et maintenir des contrôles internes robustes pour protéger les actifs de l'entreprise, prévenir la fraude et maintenir l'intégrité des données financières.
  • Coordonner avec les auditeurs externes et les conseillers fiscaux lors des audits et des déclarations fiscales. Veiller à ce que toutes les exigences de conformité fiscale spécifiques au secteur minier soient respectées.
  • Évaluer et améliorer les systèmes d'information financière, recommander et mettre en œuvre des solutions de planification des ressources d'entreprise spécifiques au secteur minier afin d'améliorer l'efficacité et la précision.
  • Collaborer avec les équipes opérationnelles pour fournir des informations financières, des conseils en matière de contrôle des coûts et un soutien aux processus décisionnels.

Qualifications et exigences:

  • Baccalauréat en comptabilité, en finance ou dans un domaine similaire. Qualification CPA de préférence.
  • Minimum de 5 à 10 ans d'expérience.
  • Maîtrise de l'anglais et du français
  • Expérience confirmée en tant que VP, Finance, Contrôleur ou dans une position similaire de leadership financier dans le secteur minier.
  • Familiarité avec les méthodologies comptables et l'analyse financière propres au secteur minier.
  • Excellentes compétences analytiques avec la capacité d'interpréter des données et des tendances financières complexes.
