This is a dual-purpose role where the candidate must be able to function as a technically solid Mechanical Engineer, as well as, a Project Engineer.Acero is focused on facility and pipeline engineering, procurement and construction management services; from concept evaluation to plant start-up. Our core service offering is in-house project management, process, mechanical, electrical I&C engineering, project engineering, procurement, regulatory services and construction management.Responsibilities:Prepare mechanical data sheets for mechanical equipment & packages in accordance with the project specificationsHave a strong aptitude for piping and/or pipeline and equipment specificationsHave a solid understanding of P&IDs, isometrics, line lists and similar deliverablesDaily usage of codes, standards and specifications pertaining to oil and gas industry equipment, vessels, pipe, etc. This includes, but is not limited to: ASME, ANSI, CSA, API.Produce and review documents, design reports, design calculations and drawings in accordance with engineering quality standards and client requirementsReview the technical data sheets for oil and gas equipment packages; technical selection, calculation, sizing and evaluation of packaged equipmentParticipate in client/vendor/contractor meetings including HAZOP’s, model reviews and design reviewsAssist with mechanical bid evaluations for equipment (RFP purchase)Create and maintain project schedules, engineering manhour estimates, and cost estimatesRequest vendor information, compile and distribute RFQs, evaluate quotes, and recommend purchase awardsAssist with the preparation and review of scope documents, reports, DBMs, PEPs, project kickoff documentation, RFQs, etc.Assemble construction work packages with an awareness and attention to what should be contained in the binderUnderstand regulatory codes and the implication on Acero’s design (eg. spacing)Understand and participate in squad checksOther tasks/responsibilities, as requiredPreferred Education, Experience and Skills:Bachelor Degree in Mechanical EngineeringMinimum 7 years of experience in midstream, conventional oil and/or natural gas facilities/processing; having functioned as a “Mechanical” Engineer and/or a “Project” EngineerProfessional Engineer status (P.Eng.) in AlbertaStrong understanding of mechanical engineering design principles and design codes such as ASME, CSA, API, TEMA, ASTM, NACEStrong understanding of piping and equipment specifications is a “must have” attributeUnderstanding of various equipment used in oil & gas such as vessels, tanks, heat exchangers & coolers, heaters, rotating equipment (pumps and compressors), packaged equipment, valves & specialty itemsUnderstanding of material selection and weldingKnowledge of fabrication and construction techniques and processesAbility to write clear, technical reportsHighly organized with the ability to work within tight deadlines and manage multiple prioritiesExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsA desire to be a team player and contributor in a dynamic, quality-focused organizationStrong written, verbal, analytical and interpersonal skillsAbility to utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
