Successful candidates must be 30 or younger, and a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident to be eligible for hire.Who we are The BC Community Alliance (BCCA) is a local Black-led, community-based, organization, formed in 2019 and registered as a non-profit in 2020, dedicated to addressing the structural inequities created by racism, especially anti-Black racism, within education settings in British Columbia. The organization was born out of a crisis in our community, following a racist bomb threat at a Vancouver high school, Lord Byng Secondary, and recognizing the broad harm that occurred not only to Black students in the school but also felt within the broader community, especially other Black community members. Although the 'Lord Byng incident' was a foundational moment in the formation of the BC Community Alliance, we are more accurately understood as a response to the racism that is felt by many racialized students.Who we’re looking forBC Community Alliance (BCCA) is looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Administrative Assistant. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our ‘virtual’ office. The ideal candidate will be proficient in administrative tasks, possess strong communication skills, and demonstrate the ability to handle a variety of responsibilities with accuracy and professionalism.What you’ll doProvide administrative support to ensure efficient operation of our virtual businessMaintain an organized electronic filing system within Google WorkspaceServe as the primary point of contact for incoming emails to the BCCA info inbox, triaging communications to the appropriate parties as necessaryDraft, proofread, and edit correspondence, memos, and other documents as neededInput and maintain accurate records in databases and spreadsheetsOrganize and update electronic files and documents, ensuring accessibility and confidentialityAssist BCCA managers with various administrative tasks, including scheduling meetings, preparing documents, and coordinating projectsConduct research and gather information for various projects and presentationsAssist in planning and organizing company events, meetings, and special projectsCollaborate with other team members to ensure seamless operation of office processesSupporting company HR and payroll functions as neededOther duties as assigned What you bringHigh school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree preferredProven experience as an administrative assistant or work experience in a similar roleProficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlinesStrong verbal and written communication skillsAttention to detail and accuracy in completing tasksAbility to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a teamDiscretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive informationWhat we offer30 hours per week at $30.00/hour - approx. 9 week durationThe opportunity to collaborate with a fun, passionate and growing team ​​Don’t meet all the requirements but still interested in applying for this opportunity?
