Our client is a highly regarded Canadian firm who is looking for a Litigation Legal Assistant to join their team in the Edmonton office. This position will be responsible for providing administrative and clerical support to the lawyers in the advocacy group. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, highly organized, has superior computer proofreading and time management skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and is able to work independently, follow instructions with minimum supervision and be able to thrive in a fast-paced, professional team environment.Responsibilities for this role include:Transcribe digital dictation, create documents from standard forms or handwritten notes, or edit various legal documents.Prepare court materials such as application records, books of authorities, appeal records, and appeal books.Maintain lawyers' calendar and contacts, schedule client appointments as directed, and arrange travel schedules as necessary.Organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints.Perform client conflict checking, open new client matters and maintain established files.Prepare client billings, respond to billing inquiries and co-ordinate with clients or billing preferences.Maintain an efficient manual and electronic file system, have strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.Possess a client-focused approach and commitment to providing exceptional service to internal and external clients.Qualifications Must Include:Graduate of a recognized Legal Assistant Program (however, equivalencies will be considered)Minimum 3-5 years of experience in an active litigation practiceExperience in Indigenous law would be considered an assetExperience in Federal Court filingsAdvanced computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook, and document management softwareOur client offers a competitive salary, comprehensive coverage for health and wellness benefits as well as offering access to group savings plans and investment options.If this sounds like the role you have been looking for, then we want to see your Resume You can forward your Resume in confidence to Shona Tischner at shona@urbanlegal.ca We guarantee discretion and confidentiality.
