The Finance Coordinator works under the direction of our Finance Manager, and is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day billing, AR and AP functions. The ideal candidate will have experience working as a full cycle bookkeeper, and will have a proven ability to master technology and to quickly turn around requests from both staff and clients. If you have experience working in the legal industry you get bumped to the top of the list.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

·      Performing monthly billing process for the firm including maintaining data entry, processing and sending invoices

·      Collecting and processing payments from clients

·      Resolving client inquiries and following up on outstanding items

·      Performing daily AP processes including processing payments, coding invoices to appropriate matters, communicating internally to ensure accurate cost coding, and posting disbursements to client files

·      Assisting in monthly account reconciliations and other control activities

·      Recommending accounting and administrative best practices

·      Receiving and returning trust funds to clients, and processing Law Society compliant receipts

·      Maintaining accurate, complete and organized financial and accounting records

·      Maintaining daily deposit both general/trust and providing daily update report for Trust deposits

·      Expediently returning funds to clients following government refunds of immigration processing fees

·      Working with external parties including accountants, financial institutions and vendors


Qualifications and Skills:

 

·      Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

·      Experience with Clio is an asset.

·      Experience with law firm trust accounting.

·      Highly detail-oriented with demonstrated creative problem-solving skills

·      Above average acumen for Technology and a passion for embracing technology to solve problems

·      A positive team player with a resourceful and analytical personality

·      Experience with trust accounting procedures and BC Law Society Trust Accounting Rules
