Manager, Audit & Assurance (Burlington-Based)

Position Overview:

Our client, a well-established Burlington-based public accounting firm, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Manager, Audit & Assurance to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced audit professional looking to take on greater responsibility, manage client relationships, and contribute to the firm’s growth in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Audit & Assurance Leadership: Lead and manage audit engagements for a diverse range of clients, including private companies, not-for-profits, and public sector organizations.
  • Financial Statement Preparation: Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements in accordance with Canadian Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and other applicable frameworks.
  • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, long-lasting client relationships, providing high-level service and strategic advice to address client needs.
  • Team Supervision & Development: Supervise, coach, and mentor junior staff and senior accountants, ensuring their professional growth while maintaining high-quality work standards.
  • Audit Planning & Execution: Lead the planning, execution, and review of audits, ensuring compliance with Canadian Auditing Standards (CAS) and industry best practices.
  • Risk Assessment & Internal Controls: Conduct risk assessments, evaluate internal controls, and identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Compliance & Reporting: Ensure client compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and prepare reports for management and stakeholders.
  • Specialized Advisory Services: Provide advisory services to clients, including due diligence, internal control reviews, and special engagements.

Qualifications:

  • Education: A CPA designation (or equivalent) is required. Additional certifications or experience in audit and assurance services will be considered an asset.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in audit and assurance within public accounting, with a strong focus on managing client relationships and leading audit teams.
  • Skills:
  • Strong technical knowledge of Canadian Auditing Standards (CAS), ASPE, and IFRS.
  • Proven ability to manage audit engagements from planning through to completion, ensuring the delivery of high-quality results.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively manage and develop client relationships.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring abilities, capable of guiding a team of accountants and fostering their professional development.
  • Proficiency in audit and accounting software (e.g., CaseWare, ProSystem FX) and Microsoft Office Suite.
