Job Description

The Hardware Asset Management Analyst is dedicated to managing all infrastructure, end user, data center, and cloud/virtual-based hardware assets globally. The mandate for this exciting role will focus on the end-to-end lifecycle management, inventory management, deployment, usage, harvesting, and compliance of hardware assets.

The Hardware Asset Management Analyst will be an integral part of the IT Asset and Configuration Management Team. The analyst will ensure that hardware assets are accurately onboarded, deployed, discovered, and populated in the Asset Management Database (AMDB)/Configuration Management Database (CMDB). Hardware assets will be effectively tracked throughout each stage of the lifecycle to be re-harvested, or decommissioned following ITAD best practices and IT Change Management protocols.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Manager, IT Asset Management.

This candidate will be responsible for:

  • Maintain an accurate inventory of all hardware assets, including servers, desktops, laptops, network equipment, virtual, cloud, and container-based assets across all stages of their lifecycle.
  • Govern and track all hardware asset inventories globally from acquisition to decommission.
  • Work closely with vendors and suppliers for hardware purchase, warranty, and maintenance.
  • Partner with IT Configuration Management to populate and cleanse the configuration management database (CMDB) with accurate CI and attribute information.
  • Liaise with other departments, such as software asset management, configuration management, network, and information security, and all business segments for seamless asset management.
  • Govern and audit the ITAD process to ensure accurate and responsible decommission, disposal, destruction, recycling, and harvesting of hardware during its lifecycle.
  • Perform inventory checks, validations, and attestations of all hardware classes to ensure completeness, correctness, and compliance with ITAM and risk standards.
  • Manage and produce real time, on-demand hardware reports, KRI's, KPI's etc. via dashboards in ITAM tools.
  • Manage and resolve intake requests, incidents and inquiries related to hardware lifecycle management.
  • Initiating forensic investigations and reviews of hardware assets to uncover non-compliance, policy, and process breaches, reduce risk, and remediate issues.
  • Leveraging industry standard ITAM tools such as ServiceNow SAM/HAM, ServiceNow CMDB, USU Aspera and other tools.

You bring:

  • Strong knowledge of hardware and software asset life cycle management processes including planning, acquisition, deployment, monitoring, decommission, and disposal.
  • Strong knowledge utilizing and/or implementing asset management tools, including automated discovery configuration tools and processes (ServiceNow, SCCM, etc.)
    • Strong understanding of API's and integrations that support asset discovery.
  • Knowledge of the ServiceNow platform, mainly SAM Pro and Ham Pro.
  • Knowledge of sub capacity, PVU, per core. ILMT, and virtual licensing models
    • Experience collaborating successfully with geographically and culturally diverse cross-functional teams.

Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:

  • Minimum (3+) years of experience with IT software asset management, software licensing, software sales, software auditing firms, hardware asset management, procurement, or software purchasing.
  • ITIL Knowledge and software/hardware experience.
  • Knowledge managing and promoting data quality, integrity, and security of AMDB and CMDB repositories.
  • Skills in analyzing CMDB data to highlight anomalies and errors and to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Experience working with configuration item (CI) owners to define remediation plans.
  • Software & Hardware Lifecycle Management 7.
