Workday Extend Developer

Location: Remote within Canada (required)
Company Overview: Our client, a leading healthcare organization, is embarking on a strategic initiative to enhance its HR and operational processes through the use of Workday Extend. This role will support the development and deployment of custom Workday applications, tailored to meet the unique needs of a large-scale healthcare environment.
Position Summary: The Workday Extend Developer will play a key role in designing, developing, and implementing custom Workday applications. This is a contract position requiring in-depth knowledge of Workday Extend to deliver tailored solutions that enhance the healthcare provider’s Workday environment. The ideal candidate will have proven experience with Workday Extend and demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions. Candidates must be located within Canada.
Key Responsibilities:
- Application Development & Integration:
- Design, develop, and deploy custom applications using Workday Extend to address the unique requirements of the healthcare sector.
- Integrate Workday Extend applications with existing Workday modules and external systems to ensure seamless data flow and process automation.
- Develop scalable, maintainable, and high-performing applications that comply with Workday best practices and standards.
- Collaboration and Requirements Gathering:
- Work closely with functional teams to understand specific healthcare use cases, gather requirements, and develop applications that meet clinical and operational needs.
- Collaborate with Workday analysts, developers, and project managers to align on project timelines and deliverables.
- Solution Optimization and Testing:
- Conduct thorough testing of Workday Extend applications to ensure functionality, data accuracy, and system performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues during the development and testing phases, working proactively to refine and optimize solutions.
- Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:
- Prepare detailed technical documentation, including application design, configurations, and best practices, to support application handover and ongoing maintenance.
- Provide knowledge transfer and training to internal stakeholders as needed to ensure smooth application adoption and utilization.
- Compliance and Security:
- Ensure all Workday Extend applications adhere to healthcare industry regulations, security standards, and data privacy policies, including HIPAA compliance where applicable.
Key Requirements:
Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in Workday development, with specific expertise in Workday Extend.
- Previous experience in the healthcare industry or with healthcare-related Workday applications is a strong asset.
- Proven track record of delivering Workday Extend applications from concept to production within large organizations.
Technical Skills:
- Strong proficiency in Workday Extend, including custom application development and integrations with other Workday modules.
- Proficient in Workday Studio, Workday API integrations, XSLT, and XML.
- Knowledge of JavaScript, REST APIs, and other modern application development tools used with Workday Extend.
- Familiarity with healthcare-specific compliance, such as HIPAA, and data security practices is highly desirable.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills with a proactive approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving.
- Highly organized and capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Education and Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred.
- Workday Pro or Workday Extend certification is a plus.
Additional Information:
- Contract Duration: 6-12 months, with potential for extension based on project needs.
- Location Requirement: Candidates must be located in Canada and eligible to work within Canada.
- Work Arrangement: Fully remote, with occasional virtual meetings and collaboration sessions with the team.
