Position Summary : This course provides an overview of restorative practices, its history, and its use in education including challenges and benefits in its implementation. Restorative practices are discussed as a theory, pedagogy, and an action-oriented approach for conflict resolution and supporting students and the school-community interface. This seminar course uses personal experiences of the instructor and participants as a starting point. Sharing circles are used for instructional purposes requiring active participation.

Successful candidate will work with the course lead in order to provide consistency across sections.

Assets for a successful candidate: Doctoral degree in education or related discipline; post-secondary teaching experience in teacher education; Teaching and/or work as a consultant in Ontario schools; School leadership experience in restorative practices in educational contexts

Qualifications – Required: Master’s degree in education or related discipline; Bachelor of Education and/or K – 12 Teaching Certification; K – 12 teaching experience; Evidence of leadership and/or scholarship in restorative practices
