LOCATION

Located approximately 100 kilometres east of Toronto, NHH is a vibrant community hospital delivering a broad range of acute, post-acute, outpatient and diagnostic services. ROLE OVERVIEW

The successful incumbents will meet the requirements of the position description for “Registered Nurse” and act as a team member with specific responsibility for performance of professional nursing care to a patient or group of patients as assigned and according to the standards of the College of Nurses.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Currently registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario Possess current B.C.L.S. Competency to perform added nursing skills as required Ability to work in an active, rapidly changing, stressful environment with multiple demands Ability to make decisions and prioritize effectively Ability to focus on complex instructions and tasks in an environment with many distractions Ability to function as a team member and maintain good interpersonal relations while performing duties Physical ability to lift, pull, push, carry, reach and physically support patients with assistance, as required Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time with repetitive bending. Follows safe and healthy work practices and maintains a safe and healthy work environment through attendance at educational programs, use of established mechanisms for injuries and hazards and adherence to health and safety related policies and procedures. Willingness to obtain a minimum of Coronary Care 1 within the first 6 months of employment

Canada Student Loan Forgiveness:

To be eligible for Canada Studen Loan Forgiveness you must have:

started your current employment (full-time, part-time or casual) as an eligible medical professional (family doctor, resident in family medicine, nurse practitioner, or nurse) in an on or after July 1, 2011 been employed for a full year (12 consecutive months) in an under-served rural or remote community (this does not apply to residents in family medicine) provided in-person services for a minimum of 400 hours in that community a Canada Student Loan that is in good standing. Note: You can apply for Canada Student Loan forgiveness for family doctors and nurses if you are enrolled in full-time or part-time studies, are currently repaying your student loan, or are in your 6-month non-repayment period. If your Canada Student Loan is in repayment, you must continue to make your regular monthly payments. If you qualify, you could receive up to $20,000 in Canada Student Loan forgiveness over a maximum of five years ($4,000 per year).

New Graduate Initative:

Eligible to Newly graduated nurses (RN/RPN) Aligned with NGG Supported by Professional Practice (MedSurg/PASS) 12-week orientation with a designated preceptior.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

Successful applicants are required to provide a satisfactory vulnerable sector criminal reference check, that was complete less than one year from the date of hire. This requirement must be met within the first sixty (60) days of employment.

Additionally to the above, successful applicants are also required to complete the Health Care Worker Health review process which includes providing an up-to-date immunization record to ensure compliance with the Ontario Hospital Association Communicable Diseases Surveillance Protocols within the first thirty (30) days of employment. Northumberland Hills Hospital operates a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all staff.
