YOUR ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage risk considering technical legal requirements, industry best practices, management system requirements, and the Responsible Distribution Canada’s Responsible Distribution® Code of Practice Act as a Technical Advisor with respect to the emergency response call network as well as the emergency response assistance plan (ERAP) under the Canadian Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations Perform site inspections to ensure that operational and safety risk is being managed for deliveries of high-risk product, including flammable liquids, oxidizing liquids, compressed gases, and cyanide, and prepare written inspection reports Conduct product stewardship training for customers with respect to safe handling of high-risk products Assist with responding to customer inquiries related to product stewardship, operational safety, and technical standards Participate in the maintenance of controlled documentation (standard operating procedures, forms, and work instructions) related to Technical Service responsibilities Participate in the maintenance of the legal register for legislation relevant to Technical Service responsibilities (e.g. provincial Fire Codes and Building Codes, storage tank-specific legislative requirements, etc.)

YOUR PROFILE

Education and Experience: 

Post-secondary education with a degree in chemistry, occupational health and safety, or any related disciplines would be an asset Experience in the chemical industry with exposure to operational safety would be an asset Emergency response training (e.g. with respect to NFPA 472) or experience with emergency response would be an asset Communication skills in both English and French, both written and verbal, and confidence with giving oral presentations are critical to this role Valid drivers license and the ability to travel are important for this role
