Manager of Housing Development (Onsite in Dartmouth NS)

Full time, permanent salaried position reporting directly to CEO.

We are pleased to be working with Habitat for Humanity Nova Scotia in helping them expand their team with a newly created Manager of Housing Development position. This role will report directly to the CEO and is an on-site/local position in Dartmouth NS and will not be remote eligible.

Habitat for Humanity is a leading affordable housing volunteer organization with affiliates across Canada helping hardworking families achieve housing stability. This unique opportunity will play a strategic and operational role in Habitat Nova Scotia's housing development initiatives as a member of the senior leadership team.

The position has great career growth potential and will include diverse responsibilities in key areas of Leadership, Land Development, Housing Development and Safety. Including:

  • Developing ,in collaboration with the CEO, informed housing development strategies, capacities and operational processes and procedures
  • Establishing and managing goals, budgets and crew leader system
  • Supporting the land acquisition process, site design concepts, funding, approvals and entitlements, negotiating partner contracts and tracking regulatory and funding compliance
  • Establishing site constraints, developing innovative new projects and programs, supervising build teams
  • Schedules, managing project status reporting, anticipating and mitigating issues
  • Maintaining necessary certifications in First Aid, CPR, WHIS and other related and mandatory certifications while acting as a key safety champion and role model

  • 5+ years professional experience in community development, housing development, residential construction management or related
  • 3+ years project management experience, ideally in construction/housing development
  • Leadership experience supervising staff and contractors
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulatory issues related to zoning and property development
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills including standard office suites, online research and construction project management software
