The successful candidate will play a critical role in early detection and diagnosis of breast conditions, ensuring exceptional patient care and maintaining the highest standards of imaging quality.Key Responsibilities
  • Perform high-quality mammography imaging procedures in accordance with clinical protocols and guidelines.
  • Prepare and position patients, explaining the procedure to ensure their comfort and understanding.
  • Operate and maintain mammography equipment, including 2D and 3D (digital breast tomosynthesis) systems.
  • Review images for technical quality and ensure accuracy before submitting them for interpretation.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal diagnostic results.
  • Adhere to infection control standards, radiation safety protocols, and patient confidentiality requirements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and patient records in compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Educate patients on breast health and self-examination practices as appropriate.
  • Participate in quality assurance and control programs to maintain accreditation standards.
  • Stay updated on advancements in mammography technology and breast imaging practices.
Qualifications
  • Diploma or degree in Medical Radiation Technology or equivalent.
  • Active registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT).
  • Certification with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) or equivalent.
  • Mammography certification or specialized training is required.
  • Preferably 1–2 years of experience in mammographic imaging.
Skills and Abilities
  • Proficiency in operating mammography systems, including digital and tomosynthesis equipment.
  • In-depth knowledge of breast anatomy, pathology, and mammography techniques.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to provide compassionate patient care.
  • Attention to detail and strong technical skills for image analysis and quality assurance.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment
  • Hospital or diagnostic imaging center setting.
  • May require standing for extended periods and assisting patients with positioning.
  • Shift work, including evenings and weekends, may be required.
