The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team, ensuring high-quality diagnostic imaging while prioritizing patient safety and comfort.Key Responsibilities
  • Perform PET imaging procedures, including preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals following established safety protocols.
  • Operate and maintain PET/CT or PET/MRI imaging systems to acquire diagnostic-quality images.
  • Prepare patients for PET scans, including explaining the procedure, verifying medical history, and screening for contraindications.
  • Monitor patients during imaging for safety and comfort.
  • Evaluate images for diagnostic quality and collaborate with radiologists for interpretation.
  • Ensure compliance with radiation safety standards, including handling and disposal of radiopharmaceutical materials.
  • Maintain accurate records of patient procedures, equipment maintenance, and radiopharmaceutical usage.
  • Participate in quality control and assurance activities to ensure equipment accuracy and safety.
  • Stay updated on advancements in PET technology, radiopharmaceuticals, and imaging protocols.
Qualifications
  • Diploma or degree in Medical Radiation Technology or Nuclear Medicine Technology.
  • Active registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT).
  • Certification with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) or Canadian Association of Nuclear Medicine (CANM).
  • Specific training and certification in PET imaging is required.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in nuclear medicine or PET imaging is preferred.
Skills and Abilities
  • Proficiency in operating PET imaging systems, including hybrid modalities (PET/CT, PET/MRI).
  • Strong knowledge of radiopharmaceutical preparation, handling, and administration.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient interaction and teamwork.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to analyze complex images for diagnostic accuracy.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient safety and adhering to regulatory guidelines.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage workflow and documentation efficiently.
Work Environment
  • Hospital or specialized diagnostic imaging center setting.
  • May require working with radioactive materials in a controlled environment.
  • Shift work, including evenings and weekends, may be required.
  • Physical demands may include standing for extended periods and assisting with patient positioning.
