Job Purpose:

You will be accountable for leading the technicians on the workshop floor, including overseeing effective management and performance of the Calgary maintenance operation, delivering outstanding levels of service and compliance with Quality Standards, promoting safe working practices, improving day to day operations, ensuring paperwork is completed to a high standard by the technicians and ensuring a high level of quality standards to our customers.

Key Accountabilities:

Oversee and liaise with the lead hand regarding status updates, breakdowns, repairs, and any new work that may be required;

Daily management of fleet turnaround times and productivity of all staff;

Daily management of workshop floor and associated yard;

Manage the profit & loss statement for the workshop

Provide regular updates to the operations manager:

Conduct daily reviews of all completed work, ensuring all aspects of jobs are captured, parts, time, and description:

Ensure that Safe working systems are practices are followed and managed at all times;

Seek approval in line with customer requirements prior to work being undertaken

Ensure the chargeable defects authorisation process has been fully managed, including warranty repairs;

Ensure all costs are challenged and pre-authorized regarding Subcontract, Parts, and Overtime;

Manage the process to guarantee day to day servicing and repair & maintenance planning, preparation and standards are carried out according to company procedures, as well as being on top of fleet inspections, cleaning, and auditing;

Ensure that all defects are repaired effectively, and relevant records are maintained;

Manage shift patterns and staff availability;

Proactively manage any underperforming staff using company procedures which may result in disciplinary hearings where applicable;

Oversee employee leaves, absences, and address instances of regular sickness or tardiness

Develop and motivate all staff and ensure new staff members receive the correct induction;

§ Managing sub-contractors and visitors on-site, ensuring any substandard work or activities are investigated;

Maintain a customer-centric approach to ensure that customer returned fleet adhere to performance and quality standards

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Manage all employees within Calgary Shop;

· Manage profitability of the workshop

· Monitor site performance concerning quality and efficiency of repair processes;

· Provide priorities for technical problem solving by identifying training needs and requirements;

· Ensure technical manuals, documented procedures and service bulletins are available and used;

· Establish working relationships and coordination with all departments;

· Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as assigned;

Health & Safety Requirements:

§ Promote the company safety standards at all times, ensuring team buy in and compliance;

§ To act responsibly and to do everything they can to prevent injury to themselves and other persons;

§ Observe all rules and appropriate operating procedures and instructions regarding safety at all times;

§ Ensure all employees utilise correctly all safety equipment, protective devices, and PPE (if applicable);

§ Report all accidents and incidents, dangerous occurrences, near miss events, damage, or potentially dangerous situations, whether persons are injured or not, to the Operations Manager of Canada DCL at the earliest opportunity;

§ Undertake and complete any investigation and follow up reports regarding fleet and personal accidents, to the required standard;

§ Oversee/undertake investigation of any accident or incident;

§ Ensure all toolbox talks are communicated in a timely fashion;

§ Report any unsafe or defective plant, tools, equipment, PPE, practices, methods, or other hazards;

§ Promote improving health and safety in the Company by making suggestions in these matters to the Manager.

§ GSE (Specialist equipment)

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

Customer-oriented with a focus on service delivery

Team leadership and management skills

Knowledge of shift scheduling

Strong negotiation and people management abilities

Analytical and numerically proficient

Understanding of financial principles

Proficient in Health and Safety protocols

IT proficiency, ERP experience

Excellent communication skills

Experience in managing technical staff

Familiarity with workshop procedures and systems

Strong organizational skills

Supervisory experience in a customer-centric environment

Background in fleet maintenance

Experience in the GSE and Diesel maintenance sector

Behavioural Capabilities:
