**Position Description**

**Summary of Key Responsibilities** (job functions include but are not limited to):
Human Resource Management
- Sets and adjusts team responsibilities based on shifting goals, priorities, and available resources
- Leadership and supervision of staff
- Advises and coaches staff and faculty colleagues on relevant policy and procedure
- Accountable for team deliverables and performance
- Responsible for hiring/terminating/performance management
- Overall responsibility for performance management which includes evaluations, ongoing performance management, discipline up to including termination
- Including on-boarding and orientation of new staff
- Managing and approving staff requests for leave; vacation, etc
- Liaises with HR Services in the management of staff attendance, sick leave, workplace accommodations, conflict and other personnel matters
- Responsible for arranging required training for staff and development

Leadership Development
- Facilitating leadership courses and development workshops for CSM faculty members
- Advising faculty members and unit leads one-on-one regarding leadership development needs
- Developing and updating leadership courses and workshops for CSM faculty members
- Developing leadership curriculum and programming
- Developing and updating leadership resources for CSM faculty members
- Reviewing and revising leadership courses and educational resources from a CSM faculty development perspective

Strategic Planning and Leadership
- Scans local, provincial and national activity related to postsecondary education and faculty development in order to inform and adjust OFDP strategy with direction from the senior associate dean HEST to ensure OFDP emerges as the national leader in faculty development
- Sets and adapts OFDP plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges
- Provides guidance internally and externally on policy, procedure and best practices relevant to faculty development and performance reporting
- Pursues grant opportunities where possible to support faculty development
- Maintain sufficient development resources for CSM faculty, including developing new resources or finding appropriate external resources where necessary

Change Management
- This includes overseeing change management practices for OFDP in relation to integration with other HEST units and other relevant offices
- Planning, implementing, monitoring, and reporting on change initiatives for OFDP
- Collaborating with stakeholders on change management processes

Networking and Negotiation
- Responsible for communicating and collaborating
- Responsible for building and maintaining effective working relationships
- High level of communication and collaboration and leadership is required
- Networking and negotiation with parties outside OFDP and outside Cumming School of Medicine to identify needs, challenges in collaborating, and opportunities for collaboration

**Qualifications / Requirements**:

- Master's in Education, Leadership, Business Administration, or similar graduate education
- 5 years or more of experience in a postsecondary environment ideally in
- Experience in change management required
- Experience managing/supervising in a unionized environment an asset
- Previous experience managing a team is required
- Demonstrated understanding of a collective agreement and interpretations
- Demonstrated leadership experience in education and/or healthcare environments
- Proven capacity to facilitate courses and workshops for professionals
- Proven capacity to supervise the work of others, including technical and administrative staff. Excellence in contemporary business practices, change management, financial, report-writing, and analytic skills
- Expertise in teaching and learning practices for professional development and/or adult education
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to anti-racism, anti-oppression, and social justice
- Proven ability to develop working relationships and establish high credibility with peers, faculty and colleagues in other units and organizations
- Highly developed problem solving, analytical and organizational skills Experience working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
- Ability to anticipate needs, plan, organize, coordinate and perform work with little or no direction
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
