A renowned engineering firm is seeking a skilled Intermediate to Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their team in British Columbia. This role focuses on innovative projects in the mining, hydropower, and water infrastructure sectors, offering a chance to make a significant impact on these critical industries.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Leadership: Lead geotechnical engineering projects from planning through to completion, ensuring they meet quality, budget, and timeline objectives.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide advanced geotechnical analysis and design for mining, hydropower, and water infrastructure projects.
  • Site Investigations: Plan and oversee geotechnical site investigations, including drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing.
  • Design and Analysis: Develop and review geotechnical designs, including foundations, slopes, retaining structures, and earthworks.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct geotechnical risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for complex engineering projects.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all projects comply with relevant federal, provincial, and local regulations and industry standards.
  • Technical Reporting: Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, proposals, and presentations for clients and regulatory agencies.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Mentorship: Mentor and guide junior engineers and technical staff, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented work environment.

Qualifications:
  • Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in British Columbia is required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with a focus on mining, hydropower, or water infrastructure projects.
  • Technical Proficiency: Extensive knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles and practices. Proficiency in geotechnical software such as GeoStudio, Plaxis, or similar.
  • Field Expertise: Strong experience in conducting and overseeing geotechnical site investigations and laboratory testing.
  • Analytical Skills: Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of developing innovative geotechnical solutions.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Team Leadership: Proven leadership and mentoring skills, with experience managing project teams and fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Industry Focus: Demonstrated expertise in the mining, hydropower, or water infrastructure sectors.
