Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our team at COWI. As a key member of our global team of experts, you will be responsible for performing engineering analysis, design, and technical reports and drawings for tunnels and various underground structures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the work of the geotechnical and seismic team for COWI as part of the Fraser River Tunnel Project
  • Collaborate closely with the Client, Owner's Engineer Team, Design-Builder, Designer, and other Stakeholders during the design development
  • Act as the coordinating professional to direct COWI's work in geotechnical engineering along with being responsible for accurate forecasting, scheduling, and budgeting for the assigned tasks
  • Contribute expertise to the Fraser River Tunnel Project and other assigned projects, ensuring adherence to quality systems and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders
  • Perform & review engineering analyses and design with a focus on seismic analysis and soil-structure interactions for retaining walls, foundations, underground structures, and marine structures
  • Classify, interpret, and characterize ground conditions from geotechnical data for the design of different structures including retaining walls, foundations, underground structures, and marine structures
  • Contribute to production, review, and approval of design deliverables such as technical memoranda, geotechnical design reports, geotechnical interpretative reports, and construction drawings
  • Provide input in digital delivery and information management of various projects from conception through to completion
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or Rock Mechanics
  • Registered Professional Engineer License (P.Eng.) in BC
  • Minimum of 15 years' experience working with project design in carrying out engineering and seismic analysis and design of foundations, tunnels, caverns, and underground structures in the Architectural/Engineering/Construction industry
  • Experience and familiarity with regional codes (North America)
  • Basic knowledge of typical BIM and parametric design software, such as AutoCAD, Dynamo, Grasshopper, etc., and design software, such as RS2/3, SWEDGE, UNWEDGE, DIPS, UDEC, FLAC/FLAC3D, Plaxis 2D/3D, Sofistik, etc.
