Due to exciting growthin student enrollment, the JR Shaw School of Business is expanding its dynamic teamand seeking dedicated professionals to join us in shaping the future ofbusiness education. We are looking for innovative, passionate educators andindustry experts committed to fostering a supportive learning environment andequipping the next generation of business leaders with the skills and knowledgeneeded to thrive in a rapidly evolving business landscape. We are recruiting formultiple instructional assistants looking to contribute to focus oninstructional excellence, student success and advancement of the program. Reporting to the ProgramChair, the Instructional Assistant is an academic position.
To fill our year-rounddemand, course assignments will primarily be Spring & Fall semesters or Winter & Springsemesters with opportunities in the following programs:
Accounting Finance HumanResource Management Management Marketingand CommunicationsSpecificcourse assignment would be determined based upon successful candidates'experience. Possible course assignment could include: first year foundationalcourses (including communications, organizational behaviour, economics, math,statistics, and business productivity software) through to 4th yearcourse offerings in specialized subject areas.

The successful candidatewill possess expert skill and knowledge in a particular field as well ascurrency of practice in a related field. NAIT provides exceptional support forthose new to instruction, however, prior experience in teaching and learning maybe an asset. Instructional excellence is essential to the achievement of NAIT’smission and the fulfillment of our Promises to Alberta, Industry, Students andStaff.
KeyAccountabilities:
Instruct assigned courses using case-based learning, problem-based learning, technology-supported learning, and other instructional and assessment strategies. Provide qualitative and quantitative feedback to students on a variety of authentic assessments. Inspire students to become business and community leaders. Leverage industry expertise to develop and deliver curriculum as part of a subject area team. Follow and adhere to NAIT policies, procedures and academic regulations. Non-teaching professional administrative duties such as course coordination, assessing transfer credits and contact with current/potential students. Contribute to program and school efforts, including program curriculum review and renewal, participation at meetings or town halls, support for recruitment and marketing events, and generally helping to build a high-functioning team founded upon collaboration and respect. Research and build communities of professional practice. Engage in scholarly activity that involves the intentional creation, integration and dissemination of knowledge that is subject to polytechnic peer review. Liaise with business and community stakeholders. Promote the program to prospective students and other stakeholders. Support the school by engaging in institutional service as required.Skills& Abilities:
Demonstrate a desire to contribute to NAIT and the JR Shaw School of Business. Excellent instructional skills with a commitment to teaching undergraduate students through a variety of delivery modes. Passion for teaching and dedication to student engagement and success. Well-developed communication, interpersonal, organizational and classroom management skills. Demonstrate a commitment to scholarly activity, applied research and innovation. Collaborative team player. Excellent knowledge of MS Office and various learning management tools. Dedicated to life-long learning and NAIT’s Values.Qualifications:
Related certificate, diploma, or degree. Related Doctoral or Master’s degree with considerable related industry experience is preferred. A combination of academic credentials and discipline-specific professional certifications will also be considered. Previous instruction and/or curriculum development experience may be an asset.Applicants witheducation credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentialsevaluated by World Education Services or the International QualificationsAssessment Service (IQAS).
Remuneration : $26.46 - $33.13 per hour, plus 12% in lieuof stat holiday and vacation pay. (Classification – Instructional Assistant l).
Thisposition is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE)Collective Agreement.
