Job Description

Reporting to and assisting the Vice President Finance, the Service Finance Coordinator is responsible for helping the finance portfolio manage the Society’s services in various aspects. The Service Finance Coordinator is also responsible for assisting with Service’s accounting needs.

To help SSMU Services with their financial activities such as changing signing officers, organizing credit card reconciliations, and submitting cheque requests. To help Services’ financial officers develop transparent budgets and make recommendations as deemed necessary by the VP Finance and the General Manager concerning these budgets. To meet with students involved in SSMU Services to teach and review financial procedures. To ensure control over internal rules and procedures over Services. To identify problems and deviations from procedures and financial activities of Services. All problems and deviations will be reported to the VP Finance. To answer questions and respond to emails directed to the Vice President (Finance) about the Students’ Society of McGill University. Complete various tasks assigned by the Vice President (Finance) as well as requests from the General Manager from time to time. Assist the Vice President (Finance) in filing paperwork and organize documents. Other tasks related to the position.

Qualifications

Ability to execute directions in a timely manner Ability to work with various student groups in a professional setting Knowledgeable of SSMU and McGill University is favourable Knowledge of SSMU and McGill University is favourable Knowledge of SSMU financial procedures is favourable. Integrity, strong work ethic and a high degree of organizational skills and accuracy Formal Education: Bachelors or completing a bachelor’s. Experience: Experience in a field that requires strong interpersonal skills

Additional Information

Paid position: $15.65 per hour; Contract dates: November 20, 2023 to May 31st, 2024 Hours: an average of 10 hours per week;
