STAC 4P72 High and Low Art: Intersections, Exchanges and Flows
(also offered as IASC 4P72 and MLLC 4P72)
The exchange between high art and entertainment, considering intertextuality and cultural appropriation; the changing role of museums and community-based arts; and the migration of values and tastes between market-driven and not-for-profit cultural outcomes.
Seminar, 3 hours per week; D2 or Fall Session, BLD; Wednesday 13:30-15:00
(Blended location delivery courses are those courses that include both online and on- campus course components. Typically 50%-80% of the total course delivery occurs on-campus while the online components may be synchronous or asynchronous. (, students watch asynchronous online pre-recorded lectures and attend an on campus synchronous seminar).
Compensation
Effective September 1, 2024 - $7, per half course (195 hours nominally)
Effective September 1, 2024 - $14, per full course (390 hours nominally)
Please note: Instructors who are employed in a 2-hour/week lecture, or the equivalent of a 2-hour/week lecture, are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course.
Duties
Duties and responsibilities will be in accordance with Article of the Collective Agreement. These include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time (preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading and course administration, including grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty).
Qualifications
1. Relevant MA, MFA or PhD.
2. Previous teaching experience at the university level in the same subject field is required.
3. Demonstrated teaching competence through previous course evaluations or three letters of reference.
4. Demonstrated experience in experiential learning and online teaching.
