STAC 2P94 Embodied Text: Art Beyond the Artifact
(also offered as CANA 2P94, IASC 2P94 and MLLC 2P94)
Functions of art and artifacts outside the conventions associated with words, texts, paintings and scores. Experiencing musical, visual, movement, and theatre vocabularies through exploration of spatial/temporal/aesthetic/embodied forms of art in performance.
Seminar, 3 hours per week; D2 or Fall Session, BLD; Thursday 1800-2100
(Blended location delivery courses are those courses that include both online and on- campus course components. Typically 50%-80% of the total course delivery occurs on-campus while the online components may be synchronous or asynchronous. (, students watch asynchronous online pre-recorded lectures and attend an on campus synchronous seminar)
Compensation
Effective September 1, 2024 - $7, per half course (195 hours nominally)
Effective September 1, 2024 - $14, per full course (390 hours nominally)
Please note: Instructors who are employed in a 2-hour/week lecture, or the equivalent of a 2-hour/week lecture, are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course.
Duties
Duties and responsibilities will be in accordance with Article of the Collective Agreement. These include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time (preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading and course administration, including grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty).
Qualifications
1. Relevant MA, MFA or PhD.
2. Demonstrated scholarship or experience understanding and teaching spectatorship, aesthetics, and contemporary critical theorization of diverse forms of artistic expression.
3. Previous teaching experience at the university level in the same subject field is required.
4. Demonstrated teaching competence through previous course evaluations or three letters of reference.
5. Demonstrated experience in experiential learning and online teaching.
