Title of Course

STAC 1P97Language for the Arts: Interdisciplinary Approaches

Understanding interdisciplinary connections between the arts. Reporting arts and culture. Examples may include photography, visual arts, new media art, performance, music, and dramatic arts.
 

Lectures/seminar, 3 hours per week; D3 or Winter Session, ASY

Compensation

Effective September 1, 2024 - $7, per half course (195 hours nominally)
Effective September 1, 2024 - $14, per full course (390 hours nominally)
Please note: Instructors who are employed in a 2-hour/week lecture, or the equivalent of a 2-hour/week lecture, are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course.

Duties

Duties and responsibilities will be in accordance with Article of the Collective Agreement. These include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time (preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading and course administration, including grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty).

Qualifications
1. Relevant MA or PhD in subjects of the Fine and Performing Arts and/or Writing for the Arts or similar.

2. Must possess an understanding of the interdisciplinary connections between the arts.

3. Previous or current experience as a writer in the for-profit or not-for-profit sector.

4. Previous teaching experience at the university level in the same subject field is required, for example in STAC 1F98, STAC 1P96, or STAC 1P97.

5. Demonstrated teaching competence through previous course evaluations or three letters of reference.

6. Demonstrated experience in experiential learning and online teaching.
