About the Role

The Program Manager provides leadership to the selected student cohort and for the development, implementation, and operation of the Uggla Family Scholarship program. The role will be responsible for building authentic relationships with each Scholar and ensure Scholars feel supported during their time in the program at SFU and later as an alum of the Uggla Family Scholarship program. Through consultation and in collaboration with multiple pan-university units and stakeholders, this role also manages all aspects of the program, including, but not limited to, annual recruitment, supporting the selection committee and process, admissions, student enrollment, and financial administration. The Program Manager works closely with Advancement and Alumni Engagement senior leadership to provide donor stewardship, including reporting, and occasionally liaises with the donor to manage engagement activities and to realize program vision for SFU and the global alumni network of Uggla Family Scholars.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology or a relevant discipline and four years of related work experience with exceptional relationship management and service delivery for diverse stakeholders, collaborative program development, project management and experience working directly with equity-deserving populations or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Excellent knowledge of university policies and regulations related to student recruitment, admissions, engagement and development. Excellent knowledge of program curriculum design principles, including assessment strategies. Excellent knowledge in the development, implementation, and assessment of educational programs or services for diverse communities.  Excellent knowledge of student development theories, student services and best practices. Excellent knowledge of intersectional, anti-oppressive, anti-racism, and trauma-informed practices as it relates to post-secondary work and learning environments. Strong knowledge of, or willingness to learn, advancement and stewardship principles. Working knowledge of obligations within legislation such as BC Human Rights Code, and excellent knowledge of Freedom of Information & Protection of Privacy Act, maintaining student confidentiality and performing duties with tact. Strong knowledge of, or willingness to learn, advancement and stewardship principles. Deep understanding and appreciation that equity-deserving groups are not homogenous and needs will be different both across and within communities. Demonstrated understanding of, and respect for, Indigenous cultural identities, practices, and values. Excellent intercultural competency skills, including an understanding of reconciliation and Indigenous history and ways of being and knowing.  Excellent conflict resolution and negotiation skills.  Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build relationships and facilitate collaboration between diverse communities. Excellent project and program administration skills such as planning, project management. Excellent leadership, interpersonal, communication, judgment, and strategic planning skills. Excellent analytical, problem-solving skills, and conflict resolution skills. Ability to continually analyze and evaluate processes and programs to create innovative and strategic improvements. Proficient in the use of student information management systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, SIMS) and standard office applications including word processing, database, and spreadsheet applications (e.g., Word, and Excel).
