Overview:

Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Redwater office is recruiting for Engineer, ROF Process to join the team.  This position reports to the Supervisor, Olefin Engineering in the NGL Business Unit (NBU), part of Pembina’s Operations Division.


Pembina's NGL Business Unit is currently expanding its NGL fractionation and processing facilities, hydrocarbon salt cavern storage facilities, and terminal facilities. The objective is to provide field engineering support for the NGL processing facilities located at Redwater. 


NBU is involved in the Fractionation, Terminaling & Storage, and Logistics and Distribution of specification natural gas liquids throughout north America. Natural Gas Liquids are components of natural gas classified by weight and number of carbon atoms – Methane (C1), Ethane (C2), Propane (C3) Butane (C4) and Condensate (mixture of C5+). Fractionation involves separating the different products in an NGL mix out into Ethane, Propane and Butane.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Provide support to Operations and Maintenance teams, helping to improve efficiency, integrity, and reliability, as well as resolving various daily trouble shooting issues;
  • Assess process conditions and make recommendations to operations on how to control, improve, and optimize the process;
  • Assist in optimizing and debottlenecking processes to increase plant throughput opportunities;
  • Assist and support the application of engineering specifications, industry and regulatory codes, standards, and practices at the site;
  • Assemble teams and coordinate resources including design consultants, controls and programming support, engineering firms, and Operation and Maintenance staff and specialists, to accomplish project objectives;
  • Handle the scope, design, estimation, scheduling, and execution of both sustaining capital and operating expense projects, following the management of change process and corporate standards and practices;
  • Participate and execute risk assessments as part of the management of change (MOC) process;
  • Evaluate the application of new technology at the site; 
  • Interface with regulators, vendors, service providers, and consultants; and
  • Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.
     
Qualifications:
  • Possess a B Sc. Chemical Engineering with a Professional Engineering designation from APEGA;
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an operation engineer for facilities; 
  • Oil and gas industry and petrochemical experience is considered an asset;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with excellent communication and teamwork skills;
  • Strong background in process controls and risk analysis;
  • Experience with various process including hydrocarbon treating, Merox, SRU, fractionation, hydrotreating, heat pumps, and olefinic hydrocarbons is considered an asset;
  • Experience with software such as Aspentech, SAP, Excel, and modern DCS is considered an asset; and
  • Strong knowledge of various engineering disciplines and design processes.


This position is considered “Safety Sensitive” so will require Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Testing.  You may also be required to provide a Driver’s Abstract. The successful candidate must live within 100 km of Redwater, AB.

 

 

The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. Final candidate will be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.
