About the role
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular full-time Talent Programs Specialist to join our dynamic Talent Programs team in our People, Culture and Performance division. 

The Talent Programs team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by providing payroll, human resources support, total rewards and employee safety and well-being services. These teams along with talent acquisition offer core programs in the People, Culture and Performance division and work collaboratively to provide impactful services to the organization. 

In this newly created position, you will be responsible for shaping the onboarding and performance management programs at Canadian Blood Services. You will play a crucial role in ensuring a smooth and positive experience for new hires and new leaders joining the organization. You will develop a best in class performance management program that meets organizational needs and is well communicated. The responsibilities will encompass managing the overall onboarding programs, delivering live onboarding sessions, managing the onboarding and performance management software, and overseeing the annual performance management cycle. 

Formula for success

Leveraging your knowledge and demonstrated expertise, you will be responsible for the onboarding program at Canadian Blood Services including managing various components, updating modules, communication of changes to the leadership team, and ensuring delivery of the program to new hires. Drawing on your excellent collaboration skills, you will work with other teams in People, Culture and Performance on the new leader onboarding program including delivery of modules, recommendations on enhancements, implementing updates and supporting the onboarding of new leaders.  Harnessing your strong interpersonal and organizational skills, you will schedule and facilitate onboarding sessions for new hires through virtual technology, make design changes to ensure the content is relevant, and model and promote Canadian Blood Services values, help new employees build relationships with colleagues and facilitate a meaningful connection to our mission. Utilizing your experience and creativity, you will develop a performance management strategy for Canadian Blood Services for both union and non-union employees. You will develop a program and research new software for performance management. Applying your effective writing skills, you will manage the onboarding and performance management sites on the company intranet. You will identify innovative and creative new ways to onboard new employees/reach a more scalable and measurable onboarding experience. Using your ability to build relationships with key subject matter experts, you will collaborate with other departments within the organization to ensure that our deliverables are aligned with their expectations and ensure key messaging and consistent national programs. Focusing on your ability to get things done, you will be responsible for achieving and measuring key results for the onboarding and performance management programs.

Desired education and skills

Completion of post-secondary education in a human resources related program is preferred. 5 years’ experience in human resources preferably with experience in onboarding, performance management, and developing and managing programs.  Proficiency in one or more of the following systems is required - performance management or onboarding systems.  Experience in facilitating virtual presentations to groups of 20 or more people at various levels in the organization (front line to senior executive). Experience managing vendor relationships.  Expert experience working with MS Office tools specifically PowerPoint, Word, Teams, Outlook and SharePoint. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

This role will work in a hybrid environment with requirements to be onsite at Canadian Blood Services location 40% of the time/ 2 days of the week. You may be required to travel within Ontario for team meetings a couple of times per year, and as required.
