Who We Are

The Faculty of Communication, Art and Technology (FCAT) explores the intersection of communication, art, science, technology, and design with interdisciplinarity and creativity at the core. FCAT’s schools and programs are strategically anchored at SFU’s three campuses in Burnaby, Surrey, and Vancouver, in addition to the Great Northern Way Campus. FCAT includes a diverse and talented interdisciplinary group of artists, researchers, scholars, and technologists, along with teams of dedicated and highly proficient staff members, and amazing students. The tight-knit team in the FCAT Dean's Office helps to advance work on the student experience and our strategic research priorities. Our undergraduate and graduate programs are focal points of the university, and our research and artistic practice is cutting edge, highly creative, and internationally recognized.

About the Role

The Coordinator, Faculty Affairs is responsible for coordinating the administration of academic personnel lifecycle processes (SFUFA and faculty as determined by University Policy) in the FCAT Office of the Dean; drafting contract, offer and agreement language for term SFUFA faculty and other faculty appointments concluded by the Dean while ensuring Faculty-wide procedural and policy compliance; and coordinating training and onboarding activities for FCAT Directors, senior academic administrators and staff. This role drafts project plans, monitors timeliness and reports on the progress of activities; budgets, plans and coordinates events and faculty-wide initiatives; and coordinates a range of confidential administrative support for faculty affairs matters to the Dean, Associate Deans, and Faculty Affairs Manager, including the archival of records and eTRACS systems maintenance.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and three years of related experience, including experience in the coordination of complex administrative processes, project management, and working with senior level administrators, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Working knowledge of post-secondary academic and administrative policies, procedures, and services. Excellent planning, budgeting, and project coordination skills. Excellent research and analytical skills with the ability to summarize complex information into reports. Demonstrated ability to guide and provide training regarding complex administrative processes. Ability to interpret policies and to develop recommendations.
