**Research Assistant**:
**Primary Purpose**: To provide research support for the Mâmawô-Kotawân project. Pewaseskwan is partnering with the Public Health Agency of Canada and Project ECHO to bring peer support workers together virtually, offering ongoing training and cultural and mental health support to increase capacity and prevent burnout. These ongoing virtual meetings will nurture community, improve training and mentorship, and provide a consistent support structure to peer support workers in underserved communities.

**Nature of Work**: Reporting to the Executive Director, the Research Assistant will work closely with the Mâmawô-Kotawân team, Project ECHO, peer support workers and the organizations that support them, and a Community Guiding Circle (CGC). Must be able to work as part of a team and independently.

The applicant must be capable of working efficiently, using their skills to organize and support their team. Our group utilizes a hybrid work model, balanced between on-campus, virtual, and community-based work, with the latter demanding irregular hours and travel.

**Typical Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Database input and management - research participant tracking
- Report creation for research grant funding
- Assist with manuscripts, posters, presentations and other communications for knowledge mobilization with academic and community partners
- Creation of surveys to gather demographics using iECHO, redcap and other data-collecting methods
- Facilitate secure transfer and storage of research recordings and raw data (demographics, questionnaires) per ethics protocols
- Taking part in cultural activities, creating safe spaces for participants and research team members
- Moderation of ECHO project meetings
- Assist with metadata tagging of research recordings
- Research honoraria payments; tracking and reconciliation of expenses
- Planning and scheduling of travel for research team and research participants
- Support project leads and the research team in scheduling and making arrangements for team meetings and gatherings

**Qualifications**

**Education**: Undergraduate degree in a relative field of study or life experiences amounting to such.

**Experience**:

- Experience working with some or all of the following communities:

- Indigenous communities
- People with lived and living experience of sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBI)
- People who use drugs
- The 2SLGBTQ+ community
- Knowledge of the University of Saskatchewan policies and procedures will be considered an asset
- Experience with research grant writing would be an asset
- Experience within the medical or educational research fields would be an asset
- Comfort with virtual meeting platforms and chat moderation
- Experience with PHAC and/or Project ECHO would be a strong asset
- Experience with Redcap would be an asset
- Familiarity with administrative duties necessary for research with human participants (i.e., scheduling data collection activities, research-related record keeping, admin support for research meetings, etc.).

- Manage multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail and accuracy

**In addition**:

- Preference will be given to applicants with knowledge of and experience in Indigenous health research, including ethical considerations and Indigenous principles and approaches to research (TCPS2, HIPA, OCAP)
- Preference will be given to applicants with experience working with Indigenous communities, including knowledge of community protocols and Indigenous ways of knowing

**Salary**: The salary range, based on 1.0 FTE, is $27.18 - 36.77 per hour. The starting salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
