Summary of Responsibilities:

Reporting to the AssistantDirector Talent & Culture responsibilities and essentialjob functions include but are not limited to thefollowing:

  • Consistently offersprofessional engaging and friendlyservice
  • Maintains a high level ofprofessionalism integrity and confidentiality in all aspects of jobperformance in accordance with our Ethics & SocialResponsibility Charter and Talent & Culture PoliciesProcedures and Standards
  • Manages andadministers disability claims function related to both occupationaland nonoccupational shortterm and longterm claims andappeals.  Review and advise on disability accommodationconsidering medical prognosis and physiciansrecommendation.  Communicates with WorksafeBC insurancecarriers treating physicians and health care practitioners toensure claim files are complete while ensuring high level ofprivacy with the objective of addressing or aiding in resolutionincluding early return to work and costcontainment
  • Use critical thinking skills tomake decisions based on the results of an overall assessment ofeach claim.
  • Performs case management foroptimal recovery and returntowork of ill/injured employeesinvolving development negotiation and implementation of vocationalrehabilitation return to work plans and duty to accommodateagreements. Monitors plan effectiveness initiating adjustments asrequired.
  • Develops and recommends policiesaimed at facilitating employees timely return to work and reductionof related costs. Develops and leads disability managementinitiatives. Develops reports and presentations of programachievements status of initiatives emerging issues and trendanalysis.
  • Provides consultation to employeesand managers regarding disability management services the disputeresolution process and the responsibilities in the workplaceaccommodation process. Advises supervisors and managers of programprovisions and collaborates on identification of systemic barriersand return to work issues.
  • Support managementwith respect to workplace injuries disability accommodation andprevention of injuries modified work/alternate work plans andemployeeabsenteeism

Health & Safety& Wellness

  • Chairperson ofhotel Wellness committee and Health & Safety representativewith the responsibility of organizing hotel Wellness initiativesand support preparation for annual CORAudits
  • Develop and deploy meaningful andimpactful wellness initiatives and programs for thehotel
  • Assist with facilitation of companydirected training including: new employee orientation &onboarding service culture training discrimination harassment andbullying prevention training conducting hotel toursetc.

Day today

  • Supports the maintenance of aconfidential organized filing system for employee filescorrespondence policies standards andregulations
  • Occasionally work a flexibleschedule where required including intermittent evening hours andweekends to meet the needs of the department andhotel
  • Support and execute staff relationsactivities such as the Anniversary Awards Reception ChildrensChristmas party Be Our Guest program diversity equality andinclusion promotions charity campaigns staff parties etc. asassigned
  • Duties & responsibilities maybe established by the Hotel from time to time and subject to changeaccording to businessrequirements

Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3year previousexperience in Human Resources with experience in GroupBenefit Plan administration Disability Claims Management andprevious leadership experience
  • Proven abilityto successfully Manage Disability Claims to both occupational andnonoccupational absences
  • Human Resources orrelated degree/certificate completion anasset
  • Outstanding written and verbalcommunication skills and interpersonalskills
  • Demonstrated abilities and creative useof Word Excel PowerPoint and various social mediaplatforms
  • Proven ability to maintainprofessionalism in a highly confidentialenvironment
  • Balanced approach to attending todetails and working with enthusiasm
  • Must beable to remain focused calm and helpful in a busy fastpaced officeenvironment
  • Excellent organizational andadministrative skills very detailed orientated and a proven abilityto meet deadlines be accountable and help others beaccountable
  • Ability to understand the needs ofa diverse workforce
  • A passion for service teambuilding and helping others besuccessful
