Academic Management Systems is within the IT Services department, serving Faculties and Faculty Relations with systems and support for their daily business operations. We are a team of business analysts and application developers with an agile mindset and a strong focus on delivering value to improve the SFU Experience for our staff and Faculty through development of modern IT systems.

About the Role

This position will lead the transition team responsible for the comprehensive business process migration of three faculties from current systems into an enterprise solution. As the product owner for this critical transition, the role will lead the team to conduct fit-gaps, integration analysis, and migrate all business processes into the enterprise solution, ensuring that staff are adequately trained, that integrations are working and that the transition is seamless. The role involves defining and prioritizing the product backlog, setting the vision for the transition, and aligning the team’s efforts with the strategic goals of the organization. Leadership in this role will be pivotal in guiding the transition team through an agile, iterative approach to deliver changes incrementally, ensuring each step contributes to the overall success of the migration.

This position requires a proven track record of working in an agile environment, with the ability to adapt quickly, prioritize tasks effectively, and deliver high-quality results in a dynamic setting. The role will engage with stakeholders to gather and refine requirements, fit-gaps with existing systems, manage expectations, and ensure that their needs are met, and expectations exceeded throughout the transition process. Expertise in agile methodologies will be essential for fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and efficiency, driving the transition to a successful completion. The role will ensure the delivery of valuable, user-centric solutions that meet the evolving needs of the organization.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management Information Systems, HR Management or a related discipline and eight years of related experience as a Business Systems Analyst working with enterprise applications, preferably in post-secondary education or public domain, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Strong knowledge in the use of enterprise applications (e.g., Oracle Peoplesoft, Interfolio, etc.). Excellent business analysis skills, with a proven ability to successfully conduct business and systems process analysis and design at a complex level to ensure solutions meet long-term business strategies. Strong project management skills, with proven ability to successfully manage multiple tasks. Excellent customer service, interpersonal, teamwork, and mentorship skills. Excellent analytical reasoning, problem solving, time management, and organizational skills.
