Associate Director, Saskatchewan Educational Leadership Unit (SELU)

Primary Purpose: The Associate Director provides support to the Director in actualizing the mission of the Unit which is to provide opportunities for leadership development through professional learning, dialogues, and leadership studies; to offer consulting services to local, national, and international organizations; to facilitate international partnerships and programs; and to engage in research studies and activities.

Nature of Work: Under the direction of the Saskatchewan Educational Leadership Unit (SELU) Director, the Associate Director shall exercise general supervision of the SELU office, engage in public relations and liaison, and participate in the design, and where necessary, the delivery of the Unit programs and projects.

Typical Duties or Accountabilities: In consultation with the Director, the Associate Director

efficiently and effectively leads and manages the business, general operations, office, and administrative support staff of SELU; provides on-going and confidential advice and support to the Director in all matters related to the leadership, business, and general operations of the Unit; engages, secures, advances, expands, and supports relationships with stakeholders, clientele, prospective stakeholders, and prospective clientele in the educational, human services, and similar sectors in the mission of the Unit; ensures the short- and long-term viability of the Unit through the solicitation, promotion, and principled management of client-focused contracts accepted by the Unit in the name of the University of Saskatchewan; operates as the quality control officer for all work of the Unit or sub-contracted work of the Unit that bears the name of the Unit, establishes and ensures meaningful communication (as the business and general operation of the Unit requires) and key officials and staff of the Department of Educational Administration, the College of Education, and other colleges and Units of the University of Saskatchewan ensures the success of qualified consultants in the business of the Unit; establishes and ensures meaningful communication (as the business and general operation of the Unit requires) with consultants contracted or sub-contracted by the Unit; upholds and assists (as the business and general operation of the Unit requires) the missions, policies, guidelines and practices of the Department of Educational Administration, the College of Education, and the University of Saskatchewan

As a condition of this contract, you are required to sign a Memorandum of Agreement regarding intellectual property.

Education: A Master’s degree is required. Focus on an area in education or related social sectors would be considered an asset.

Experience: A minimum of 10 years in a leadership role in an educational (primary, secondary, post-secondary) setting.
