Wood is anticipating expanding the team to support upcoming work in the Voisey’s Bay, NL office. We are seeking a Senior / Intermediate Electrical Technologist , for a 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotation. The ideal candidate will have experience in the Industrial / Mining industry. Responsible to produce basic and higher-tier drawings and documentation in accordance with established conceptual design and scope Conducts checking of engineering deliverables as required Individual must have extensive understanding of all engineering discipline drawings and electrical discipline wiring diagrams, control logic diagrams, system descriptions and calculations Applies standard engineering tasks and exhibits a working knowledge of applicable codes Capable of independently evaluating the selection and/or modification of standard techniques, procedures, criteria and systems to efficiently meet project goals Assists in planning, scheduling and coordinating detailed phases of engineering work Participates in conferences with the client to establish project objectives and resolve design problems Properly interprets and applies codes & standards and customer design requirements, for the preparation of electrical design documents, specifications, material requisitions and system descriptions related to design tasks Individual shall be able to develop bills of material and specifications for equipment Conduct field assessments and provide construction support on occasion at client facilities and construction sites Interface with clients for project scope development, design reviews, and progress meetings Electrical Engineering Technology diploma or equivalent, focus on power & controls preferred Highly developed communication skills, both written and verbal Experience with cable tray layouts, single line diagrams, electrical schematics, general arrangements, lighting layouts and general electrical design concepts 8+ years relevant experience preferrable Local codes and standards Experience with underground mining power and control systems would be considered an asset
