We are looking for a  Medical Science Liaison (MSL)  who is collaborative, engaging, and flexible, to join us in our  Medical Department  based out of  Quebec City, QC, Canada.

About the role:

The  Medical Science Liaison  is a field-based Medical/Scientific expert who serves as a key scientific partner to healthcare providers/organizations, and internal UCB colleagues. As an MSL at UCB, you will be responsible for executing key medical strategies to enhance care and positively impact patients living with chronic inflammatory diseases.

Who you’ll work with:

You will be working alongside a team of 6 Medical Science Liaisons in the Immunology Patient Value Unit spread across the Canadian landscape. This position reports into the Field Medical Lead. Complementing this team is the Head of Medical Strategy & Field. This is a diverse team of medical professionals who utilize creative approaches to finding solutions that work effectively in a constantly changing environment. They have well developed interpersonal skills and uphold the values of UCB in every internal and external interaction.

What you’ll do:

You will be required to maintain deep scientific knowledge in the areas of Rheumatology and Dermatology. Identify, establish, and maintain collaborative relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), clinical specialists, and researchers to conduct scientific exchanges in the specific areas of focus. Serve as a scientific expert at key medical and scientific conferences, advisory boards, clinical investigator meetings, and internal meetings. Conduct education programs that aim to enhance Key Opinion Leaders understanding of unmet clinical needs. Support and collaborate with field-based cross-functional teams to provide medical insights and expertise.

Interested?  For this role we’re looking for the following  education, experience,  and  skills:

You must have an MSc degree and minimum 2 years of demonstrated experience of success as an MSL. The ability to clearly articulate complex scientific concepts in 1:1 and group settings. Regular travel is required within the territory and attending company meetings, conferences, etc. (including overnights and some weekends; national and international). Territory: Quebec City & Montreal, QC, Canada. Valid driver’s license. Must complete initial training and successfully pass all assessments. Experience working in Real World Evidence (RWE) within the pharmaceutical industry is a plus. Immunology disease experience strongly preferred (Rheumatology and Dermatology).

L’ agent de liaison en sciences médicales (Medical Science Liaison - MSL) est un expert médical/scientifique basé sur le terrain qui sert de partenaire scientifique clé aux fournisseurs/organisations de soins de santé et aux collègues internes d’UCB. En tant que MSL chez UCB, vous serez chargé de mettre en œuvre des stratégies médicales clés pour améliorer les soins et avoir un impact positif sur les patients traités en rhumatologie/dermatologi. Ce poste soutiendra notre Unité de Valeur pour les Patients (UVP) en Immunologie dans la géographie du Québec.

Vous contribuerez :

en maintenant des connaissances scientifiques approfondies dans les domaines de l’immunologie; en identifiant, en établissant et en maintenant des relations de collaboration avec les leaders d’opinion clés (KOL), des spécialistes cliniques et des chercheurs, et en menant des échanges scientifiques dans les domaines d’intérêt spécifiques; en faisant des propositions de valeur clinique et en vous engageant auprès des décideurs clés des groupes médicaux et des payeurs régionaux; en identifiant et en soutenant les projets potentiels d’expansion de la recherche et les collaborations, les conseillers médicaux et les opportunités de partenariat éducatif; en menant des programmes d’éducation qui visent à améliorer la compréhension des besoins cliniques non satisfaits par les KOL en agissant en tant qu’expert scientifique lors de conférences médicales et scientifiques clés, de conseils consultatifs, de réunions de chercheurs cliniques et de réunions internes; en soutenant, et en collaborant avecdes équipes interfonctionnelles sur le terrain afin de fournir des informations et une expertise médicales; à l’examen et à la critique des publications scientifiques afin d’éclairer les tendances en matière de soins de santé dans les domaines d’intérêt spécifiques de l’immunologie; à la collecte, à l’analyse et à la communication d’informations concernant les domaines thérapeutiques, les options de traitement, les nouvelles normes de soins et la veille à la concurrence; en répondant aux demandes d’information médicale; en fournissant des présentations cliniques efficaces à des auditoires internes et externes pour répondre aux besoins spécifiques de l’auditoire; en soutenant localement les enquêtes cliniques d’UCB et en évaluant la faisabilité, tout en servant d’agent de liaison principal entre UCB et l’investigateur pour les recherches non sollicitées menées à l’initiative des chercheurs, de leur origine à leur publication; en fournissant des mises à jour sur le terrain concernant les sujets d’intérêt pour la création et/ou la mise à jour des lettres de réponse standard; en opérant au plus haut niveau de conformité et de normes professionnelles d’UCB. Le fait d’adhérer à un comportement conforme est une attente chez UCB et est démontré par l’adoption de pratiques et de directives de prise de décision éthiques dans tous les aspects de notre organisation.

Compétences minimales :

Requises : M. Sc. Plus de 2 ans d’expérience réussie et démontrée en tant que MSL. Doit être bilingue en français et en anglais. Capacité à exprimer clairement des concepts scientifiques complexes dans des contextes individuels et collectifs. Déplacements réguliers dans la région pour assister à des réunions de l’entreprise, à des conférences, etc. (y compris les nuits et certaines fins de semaine). Territoire : lieu de résidence à Québec de préférence, avec des déplacements nécessaires dans tout le Québec. Permis de conduire valide. Doit suivre la formation initiale et passer avec succès toutes les évaluations.

Qualifications souhaitées :

Doctorat avec 5 ans d’expérience réussie en tant que MSL. Une expérience dans le domaine des maladies immunologiques est fortement souhaitée, notamment en rhumatologie et en dermatologie. Compétences interpersonnelles bien développées et excellentes aptitudes à la communication orale et écrite. Très bon sens des affaires avec une solide compréhension de l’industrie pharmaceutique et du secteur des soins de santé. Sur une base régulière, vous communiquez de manière proactive et coordonnez les activités et les opportunités scientifiques avec d’autres collègues d’UCB sur le terrain et en interne. Approche créative pour trouver des solutions et capacité à travailler efficacement dans un environnement en constante évolution. Bon sens des affaires avec une solide compréhension de l’industrie pharmaceutique. Connaissance et compréhension de base des principes économiques de la santé et des essais cliniques. Doit avoir l’esprit d’équipe et être capable d’interagir efficacement avec d’autres services internes, notamment les unités commerciales régionales, le marketing, les ventes, les affaires médicales et les opérations cliniques. Solides compétences en matière de gestion du temps et de l’organisation, avec une bonne maîtrise des applications Microsoft.
