PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
Reporting to the Food & Beverage Manager, the Assistant Food & Beverage Manager is responsible for operations of the Restaurant and Lounge and supporting Banquet operations. The Assistant Manager is required to maintain a flexible schedule and be available to work shift work including weekends and holidays.
Provide leadership in service and innovation while providing a working environment that fosters career growth and development for our team members.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Using a "hands-on" approach, assist and supervise the Associates in their duties.
- Actively promote an environment conducive to high quality customer service and employee relations by being a positive leadership example.
- Responsible for scheduling, payroll, disciplinary actions, training and mentoring for staff.
- Coaches and trains the associates on the hotel standards and approved methods of service and cleanliness.
- Oversee the opening and closing procedures while on shift.
- Ensure customer concerns are addressed in a timely and professional manner.
- Access and input minimal information into PMS.
- Ensure Associates are ready for their shifts and are following policies on appearance standards.
- Ensure Associates are recognized regularly for their contribution.
- Document any discrepancies or violations of Nova Standards and Policies
- Understand and follow Health & Safety policies and security requirements.
- Ensure maintenance of safety and sanitation standards and policies.
- Assist with ongoing promotions and events.
- Assist in Catering/Banquet operations.
- Help manage liquor, wine and beer inventories. Cost control and ordering.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Weekly Expectations:
- Conducts weekly audits, ensure all standards are adhered to; provide coaching to associates during each shift.
- Ensure all scheduling changes are initialed and approved.
- Ensure proper communication with shift challenges & suggestions for improvement.
- Conduct weekly inventories for liquor/ supplies and maintain optimum stock levels to meet customer demand.
Monthly Expectations:
- Participate in the Monthly Communication Meetings and Health & Safety Meetings.
- Ensure all incidents are documented & ensure proper training in place for associates to avoid all hazards.
- Communicates with HR
- Conduct monthly inventories for liquor / supplies; maintains optimum stock levels to meet customer demand.
Quarterly Expectations:
- Participate, communicate & encourage attendance to Hotel functions, Goal is 100% attendance.
As Required:
- Assist with training new team members; CLEARLY outlining expectations & effective training with our Nova Standards.
- Ensure regular training is conducted with associates for new promotions, menus, etc.
- Assist HR and F&B Manager in interviews for new team members.
- Ensure ALL team members are trained on fire safety plan and all emergency procedures within.
- Assist the F&B Manager in the execution of sales and marketing initiatives.
- Keeps immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters.
- Adheres to all Nova standards, including Uniform, Hygiene and Grooming, Health and
Safety, Fire Safety, and Guest Interactions.
- Other projects/duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:
Lifting; > 20lbs 50% of work time, Carrying; Under 20lbs 50% of work time, Pulling; Under 20lbs 10% of work time,; constant walking, bending, standing, reaching, and kneeling.
Work Demands:
The work environment is a setting, which has the following conditions: high noise environment; high traffic area for internally and external guests, exposure to equipment such as trolleys, carts, dishes, AV equipment, etc.. There is a potential exposure to theft and/or belligerent guests.
