Description:

As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) II, you will coordinate the day-to-day operations and the quality control function of the laboratory. You may have advanced technical knowledge or are the lead responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of Laboratory Information System (LIS) support, site education, quality assurance or laboratory research programs. Your responsibilities may include coordinating, prioritizing, monitoring and assigning work to MLT l's, providing technical advice, problem solving and trouble shooting on a variety of laboratory instruments. In addition, you will participate in the technical aspects of the laboratory, ensuring the performance of standard and specialized procedures.

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

5-7 years current clinical experience in a large Microbiology Laboratory.Minimum of five-year experience in Public Health Laboratory.Minimum of three-year experience specifically in Specialized Diagnostic area.Expertise in areas including but not limited to PCR, rt-PCR, RT-PCR, Nucleic Acid Extraction, sequencing including whole genome sequencing, sample processing and instrument troubleshooting.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in a supervisory role.Process Excellence and Change Management training.Experience with College of American Pathologists (CAP) accreditation program.Familiar with the Human Pathogen and Toxins Act (HPTA) program components.
