Hours: Monday – Friday, 35 hours/week

Home Campus:  Stoney Creek (fully on-site)

Rate of Pay: Payband H (Start Rate: $ per hour, plus 8% in lieu of vacation and benefits)

Reporting to the Associate Dean, the Training Coordinator – Skilled Trades is responsible for collaborating with the academic area to offer services and supports to industry, sectoral bodies, non-profit organizations, school boards and government agencies, contributing to improved economic and workforce development of the skilled trades incumbent applies knowledge to coordinate, collaborate and support the life cycle of externally funded trades and apprenticeship programming for both Mohawk College initiated projects and those where external partners are proponents.

Working fully on-campus is required for academic delivery and faculty/studentsupport; hybrid may be an option during non-peak times. Flexibility is requiredas working hours could involve evenings and/or weekends.

What you’ll be doing:

Gathers information on municipal, provincial and federal agencies activity to identify potential funding opportunities. In collaboration with Associate Deans and Operations Manager leads the response to Requests for Proposals, to complete and submit the applications ensuring all program eligibility requirements are met.Including, but not limited to: researching resource availability, preparing budgets, securing support from industry ( work placements), researching employer demand and labour market data and determining wrap-around supports. Converses with external community partners to explore specialized training opportunities in response to their identified needs and requirements.Prepares Letters of Interest to clearly outline roles, responsibilities and expectations. Upon receipt of acknowledgement that the partner wishes to move forward with the project, completes the Memorandum of Agreement to be signed off by both parties. Collaborates with the marketing and recruitment departments to recruit participants, who meet the eligibility requirements as contractually obligated with the funding includes coordinating the updates to webpages, outreach to community and industry partners and organizations, information sessions, etc. Recruits participants through vetting resumes/applications, administering pre-program assessments, collection of applicable documentation (transcripts, identification, certificates, etc.), interviews.Recommends successful participants and prepare acceptance letters.Maintains listing of waitlisted applicants. Coordinates supplementary training for participants and orders all training materials ( tool kits, textbooks, and PPE). Supports participants throughout the process, from application to post-program completion. This includes understanding orientation sessions and communicating pertinent program information, directing students to college resources to support them. Communicates to partners as it relates to their participants progression in the program, proactively identify concerns and offer supports to address any challenges. Understands the requirements of work experience/placements from the work integrated learning department participants. Arrange Resume/Job Search assistance and workshops for students. Enlist the assistance of Employment Consultants from the Community Employment Services department of the college and Ontario Works to assist with training supports for eligible participants. Coordinates program completion includes, submitting final grades, coordinating graduation ceremonies, and preparing Acknowledgement of Completion certificates. Collaborates with the Operations Manager to gather all interim and final reporting as required through the contractual obligations with the funding agencies.

What you’ll bring to the role:

A minimum of three-year post-secondary education in Business Administration, Education or Educational Administration, Business Development/Management, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 5 years experience in a service-oriented environment, preferably in the post-secondary education sector. Knowledge of skilled trades & apprenticeship and experience with government agencies and Ministries is an asset. Valid G driver’s license and a car to use for off-site industry and partner meetings and work placement site visits. Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility. The ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse students, employees, and communities.
