The Psychologist is responsible for providing a full range of psychological services within a multidisciplinary team that provides rehabilitation and community support to clients within Acquired Brain Injury Services. Responsibilities Provides a full range of psychological services to clients with Acquired Brain Injury (ABI). Provides a comprehensive oral and/or written assessment of client functioning that may include specific information on any of the following areas: intellectual, neurocognitive, emotional, personality, psychopathology, interests and aptitudes. Provides rehabilitative treatment through collaboration with the multidisciplinary team for training and/or social rehabilitation of clients with Acquired Brain Injury (ABI). Provides neurocognitive assessments to individuals with mild to severe brain injuries who are clients of Acquired Brain Injury Services. Provides individual and group treatment interventions for challenging personality traits post injury and works closely with the multidisciplinary team and contractors to inform psychological aspects of the care plan. Responsible for program development and management of psychological services for the Acquired Brain Injury program including clinical and administrative expertise on ABI assessment, treatment, service planning, and program design. Provides consultation to colleagues on assessment and treatment issues, which may involve a direct consultation with a formal assessment, co-therapy, psychoeducational groups or a discussion with the colleague over concerns regarding a particular client; leads and coordinates multi-disciplinary service interventions; consults with community professionals and agencies on psychological issues. Participates as a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team by participating in team meetings and in the decision making process as it relates to team functioning and provision of psychological services. Produces and maintains confidential client clinical records in accordance with established standards and procedures; writes timely and accurate reports of relevant observations and evaluation of care to ensure continuity of communication and full client documentation. Participates and promotes educational programs on therapeutic and assessment techniques at the team, community and regional level. Initiates and carries out program evaluation in consultation with the Manager by suggesting hypotheses, identifying relevant variables, formulating a research design and carrying it out. Performs research work for the advancement of psychological issues within the ABI services. Supervises psychology students, interns or other psychologists, when required. Performs other related duties as required. Qualifications Education, Training, and Experience: Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology including relevant coursework, training, and clinical supervision in assessment/testing and intervention. Two years’ recent related experience in neurocognitive assessment and in administration and interpretation of neurocognitive assessment. Experience working with rehabilitation interventions, and multidisciplinary teamwork with complex care clients, and experience working with individuals with an acquired brain injury within a clinical or supportive setting, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Current registration with the College of Psychologists of British Columbia. Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based ABI rehabilitation. Demonstrated research skills. Demonstrated knowledge of developmental theories, family and social dynamics, treatment and behaviour management modalities and psychological testing and interpretation. Ability to prepare comprehensive written assessments. Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation. Demonstrated sound knowledge of the service delivery systems at the local, regional and provincial level. Demonstrated ability in implementing policies and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to deal effectively with others. Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work. Ability to operate related equipment. Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
