Overview

Our client, is a supplier of high-quality steel located in the City of Hamilton at the western end of Lake Ontario on the St. Lawrence Seaway

We are currently recruiting for a Procurement Payment Analyst to join a team that provides support to Purchasing Department. The technically diverse projects undertaken by our client provide a fantastic opportunity for growth and development.

Here is What You Will Be Doing

The Procurement Payment Analyst will implement purchasing procedures by processing requisitions through to orders and approving invoices for payments. The position will also be working with others on cost reduction efforts, setting inventory levels and expediting goods and services required for the company.

Responsibilities include

· Prepare, issue, analyze and evaluate request for bid documents, often in collaboration with requesters and Buyers.

· Process requisitions through to orders, ensuring all necessary approvals are in place, prior to awards.

· Conduct negotiations with suppliers on prices, working to achieve the lowest total cost (TCO) for the company prior to order award. Review invoices to ensure they are correct, seek other approvals as required and approve for payment.

· Re-calculate suppliers invoices and make decisions related to short payments/holdbacks and set-up recurrent invoices as required. Inform stakeholders about order status and follow-up expediting orders as required. Respond to emergency requests to meet shutdown/breakdown requirements for goods and services.

· Identify opportunity for improvement and act within the Associate Buyer scope of authority to achieve department goals. Initiate discussions with other depts. including Manufacturing, Engineering, Financial, Tax, Customs etc., related to realizing cost reduction, processing purchases and resolving problems.

· Leading the communication with stakeholders to receive the appropriate approvals- including goods receipts within the system

· Identify the need, developing and executing the training on invoice payment process for any stakeholders as required

· Collaborate with the Buying Teams to develop effective contracts that ensure the payment process is efficient and effective

· Collaborate with the Buyer to analyze And implement business process improvements on recurring invoicing issues.

· Identify, Initiate, and execute projects to reduce the manual payment process activities through various initiative- increasing invoiceless, eTimesheets, exploring more uploads, reducing statements from suppliers etc.

Are you Qualified

· Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel Focused)

· Very detail oriented.

· Strong analytical and problem solving skills are required.

· Good interpersonal and communication skills are required.

· Being able to negotiation with suppliers.

· Advanced knowledge of Purchasing Systems is required

· Working knowledge of the procurement processes is required

· Working knowledge of the commodity market and supply base is required

· General knowledge of manufacturing processes in relation to assigned commodities is required

· Strong time management and organizational skills are required

· Strong mathematical skills are required

· Able to multi-task and deal efficiently with peak workloads
