Overview:


Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Calgary office is recruiting a Senior Specialist, Strategy & Enterprise Risk to join the team. This position will be part of Pembina’s Marketing & Strategy Division and will report to the Director, Enterprise Transformation. This role will collaborate with stakeholders (including Executives) to ensure risk management practices are embedded into strategic planning while managing and enhancing an enterprise risk management program. 


This role has three key functions:

 

  • Work collaboratively with team members and key stakeholders to support an enterprise-wide approach to strategic planning, facilitating conversations with Executives on priorities, tradeoffs & sequencing; 
  • Build risk management practices & mindset into strategic planning; and
  • Manage Pembina’s existing Enterprise Risk Management program, ensuring that all enterprise risks are identified, assessed & managed effectively in service of strategy achievement.
     
Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Support enterprise-wide approach to strategic planning, facilitating strategy sessions and ensuring alignment with Pembina’s risk appetite and strategic objectives;
  • Collaborate with Business and Service Units to integrate risk management into strategic planning and decision-making;
  • Work closely with the Corporate strategy team to understand shifts to Pembina’s strategy and the impact on strategy execution; 
  • Develop practices that enable enterprise risk management and that integrate into existing & new Corporate strategy processes;
  • Identify emerging risks associated with the execution of Pembina’s strategy;
  • Understand the risk management landscape at Pembina and make recommendations to determine how risks get escalated to the enterprise level;
  • Advise on risk management strategies and best practices;
  • Attend & prepare materials for quarterly Enterprise Risk Management Committee meetings; 
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in transformation, strategy translation & risk management;
  • An ambassador for continuous improvement & transformation by demonstrating passion for, and communicating Pembina’s vision around continuous improvement & transformation;
  • Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace; and
  • Travel as required to meet project outcomes. 
Qualifications:

 

  • Experience with strategic planning with a focus on applying a risk management mindset & approach;
  • Strategic thinker who has the ability to coach senior leaders & facilitate difficult conversations;
  • Superior problem-solving skills, highly organized, and a proven track record of effectively delivering benefits in large transformation projects;
  • Strong understanding of business processes, strategic planning principles & practices;
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work with leaders of all levels;
  • A high level of personal integrity and energy, a commitment to teamwork, and a strong desire to learn;
  • Effective stakeholder management, and proven influencing skills within large organizations; and
  • Strong knowledge and capability in Microsoft applications including Excel, PowerPoint, and PowerBI.  


The following would be considered strong assets: 

  • An MBA, and/or P. Eng.  coupled with; 
  • Risk management certifications and familiarity with risk management frameworks (i.e., ISO31000, COSO);
  • Experience with project management and/or portfolio management for large-scale transformation projects;
  • Previous experience in operations; ideally in the energy infrastructure industry;
  • Formal training, and a proven track record of application in Lean Six Sigma Green, Black, or Master Black Belt; and 
  • Experience in business analytics.
